Regina sent a strong contingent to Ironman Canada in Ottawa this past weekend! The Ironman distance has a 3.8 km run, 180 km bike, and 42.2 km run. The weather got hot - almost 30 degrees and both the bike and run course are described as “rolling”. Still, our athletes excelled! Our fastest triathletes were Beukes Vorster and Lauren Thies. The ridiculously difficult Sinister 7 was held in Crowsnest Pass Alberta this weekend and Regina runners accepted the challenge. The 100 mile course on rugged trails ascends 6692 m (!) and has a very tight time allowance of 30 hours. And of course, it was hot, muddy, and windy! Andrew Shanks was our only Regina 100 mile finisher, while Lloyd Sehn, Derek Anaquod and Drew Gibson made it to CP6b, T3 and T3 respectively.
