Some will be chasing their first gold medal.

Others will be trying to prove the last one wasn’t a fluke.

And some will walk in knowing there’s one person in their division they’ve been waiting to face again. 👀

You never know where the skills and confidence your child develops through grappling will take them. Maybe they’ll become a world champion. Maybe they’ll gain the confidence to stand up for themselves. Maybe they’ll have the courage to stand up for someone else in a bullying situation. Or maybe they’ll simply grow into a more disciplined, resilient, and confident person.

The medals are incredible, but the lessons learned on the mats last a lifetime.

Behind every great competitor is a coach who puts their athletes first.

At every True North Grappling event, we see coaches spending the entire day in the corner encouraging, teaching, and supporting their students. They celebrate every win, learn from every loss, and often leave with little time to think about themselves.

These coaches on the podium are a perfect example of what coaching is all about. They invest countless hours helping others improve, then step onto the mats themselves to test their own skills. Coaching is selfless.

One of the best parts of True North Grappling has been watching the level of grappling in our local community continue to rise. Every event pushes athletes and coaches to get better, and the growth across Alberta has been incredible to witness.

We’re also grateful that teams are willing to drive 7+ hours to compete at our events. That commitment speaks volumes about the community we’re building together.

Thank you to every coach, athlete, referee, volunteer, and supporter who makes these events possible. Together, we’re raising the level of grappling in Western Canada.

That’s what separates champions from everyone else, the willingness to test themselves when they have nothing left to prove.
