What a summer full of fishing fun! 🎣✨

Did you know? We had 200 young anglers enter fish entries in the Kids Summer Derby! 🧒🐟 Those 200 anglers entered a total of 1,264 fish entries. 📈

Out of those 1,264 entries, 82 different species were recorded! 🐠🌈
It is amazing to see such variety, especially since Ontario is home to approximately 156 species of fish. 🐟

With a vast network of more than 250,000 lakes and rivers, Ontario has the highest fish diversity in Canada. 🌊🐟

We loved seeing our young anglers explore so many of those waterways this summer! ☀️🎣

Our Fall AGM is happening on Wed Oct 21, 7pm at The Dalhousie Yacht Club.

Awards will be presented for Fall Salmon Derby & Members Challenge followed by the meeting agenda and elections for the 2027-2028 terms

All positions for Executive Committee & Board of Directors are open

The St Catharines Game and Fish Association expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Les Herbert, one of our past presidents.

HERBERT, Les
January 6, 1942 - September 10, 2026

Les passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Marotta Family Hospital, St. Catharines with his loving wife and family friends by his side.

Les was a Firefighter with the City of St. Catharines for 31 years and ran the Firefighter’s Ball for many years. He was a Past President of the St. Catharines Game & Fish Association and ran their Lake Ontario Salmon Derby for many years. He was a life member of the Dalhousie Yacht Club and enjoyed taking his boat across the lake to the Toronto Islands Hanlan’s Point and going to Ontario Place for the Labour Day weekend to watch the Air Show and the Snow Birds.

He was a current member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #350 and the St. Catharines Rowing Alumni Association. He also belonged to the Lasalle Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed target shooting with his compound bow.

He was also an avid fisherman. He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife, Judi. He will be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends were extremely important to him.

There will be an inurnment service at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to be followed by a celebration of life at the Dalhousie Yacht Club, 74 Lighthouse Road, St. Catharines.

This Saturday is our Kids Summer Derby Extravaganza!

K8ds & families are welcome to come fishing in Port Dalhousie harbour from 8am-10am

Following that there will be all kinds of food & activities. We'll also present all of the winners with their prizes at noon.
