SAINT JOHN — A masterclass on the mound and some well-timed power surges carried the AJs Saint John Alpines to a convincing 7-1 victory over the Moncton Mets, anchored by a dominant pitching performance from Haden Dow.
Dow kept the Mets guessing all night, racking up 8 strikeouts to earn the win. Aside from a solo blast by Moncton’s Jackson Dekker in the top of the fifth inning, the Alpines' pitcher completely neutralized the Mets' bats, closing out the final frame with back-to-back strikeouts to seal the game.

Saint John struck first in the bottom of the second when Ryan Scott drew a walk and crossed the plate on a Mets fielding error. The Alpines doubled their lead in the third courtesy of an RBI single from Mark Legere, but it was the long ball in the later frames that truly broke the game open.
In the bottom of the fourth, Ryan Galbraith crushed a towering solo home run to extend the cushion to 3-0. After the Mets scratched across their lone run in the fifth, Saint John quickly put the game out of reach. A messy fifth inning allowed the Alpines to tack on two more runs via RBI singles from McCarthy and Dow.
Matt Beach then provided the exclamation point in the sixth, launching a dynamic two-run homer to cap off the night's scoring at 7-1.

Next home action for the Alpines is Saturday, June 20th when they host the PEI Islanders for a double header
