❤️❤️❤️

We may be in our official offseason after another successful two-year cycle culminating in 15/15 podium finishes at the Club Crew World Championships earlier this month in Taiwan, but we will be on the water again before you know it, and the Gorging Dragons program is recruiting!

Is there anyone interested in joining this awesome community of people? Billie is new to the team too… and would love some other newbies to join her - no dragon boat experience necessary ☺️

Season start date: TBD, but likely late October
Goal race: Canadian National Championships, seeking qualifying berths to the 2028 Club Crew World Championships in Spain.
Who are we looking for?: Our GD crews include para, breast cancer paddler, premier (open age), Senior B (50+), Senior C (60+), and Senior D (70+).
Where: Victoria, Nanaimo, or the Comox Valley.

Heading off to my last festival of the season.

This will close my first full year of organizing events for VI paddling. I came to the position with no previous event management experience so it’s been a super big learning curve.

Couldn’t have done it without the help of so many amazing volunteers. I am truly grateful for everyone of them.

Let’s go do this. 1,2,3, Comox we are coming for you!

Yes 🙌

LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK 👏💫 amy

Here’s to the real ones shaping the future. The trailblazers. The role models. The record breakers.

Sport doesn’t ask a woman to look a certain way. It asks her to be strong, fast, relentless, unstoppable.

That’s the whole point.

And we’re not going anywhere.

And just like that a 2 year cycle of training has ended.

So proud of all our Gorging Dragons🐉 teams. You are all rock stars 🌟 every single one of you!

15 races, across 5 different divisions, and 15 podiums. This truly is the little club that could. All those weeks and weeks of hard training really paid off 💪

For me personally, I am coming home with 6 medals from 6 races 🙌:

Senior B Women (49-59 years) #09 Seat 8L
500m🥈
200m🥇
2000m🥈

Para-Dragons (PD2) #12 Stroke Seat 1R
500m🥈
200m🥈
2000m🥇

As you might have guessed, I left it all out there on the race course for every single race. I stretched my comfort zone being in stroke seat and I am proud to say I’m a world class paddler on both my right and left sides.

Thank you Taipei 🇹🇼 for providing the most beautiful backdrop for racing and blessing us with cloud and rain when it was time to race.

And now it’s time to rest….
