The Peterborough Hatash*ta Open returns on June 20.

⚠️ Important: The event is pending cancellation if at least 160 athletes are not registered by June 12 at 12:00 PM (noon).

Ontario athletes are spending the week at international training camps in Lima, Peru and Graz, Austria, training alongside top athletes from around the world.

Now entering its third year, the event continues to grow and will once again feature the exciting Mixed Team Competition alongside the individual divisions. Athletes, clubs, coaches, and supporters can look forward to a great day of competition and community.

Ontario athletes continued to make their mark internationally this weekend with strong performances in both Peru and Austria.

🇵🇪 Lima Junior Panamerican Cup 2026
🥇 Matthew Molchanov (Taifu Judo Club) — Gold, Junior -90kg
🥈 Gabrieli Makhatadze (Olympic Judo Centre) — Silver, Junior -60kg

🇦🇹 Graz Junior European Cup 2026
Artem Neyolov (Taifu Judo Club) — 7th Place, Junior -81kg

Congratulations to Matthew, Gabrieli, and Artem on these outstanding results representing Team Canada and Team Ontario on the international stage.

Golden day for Canada in Lima! 5 gold medals including Gabrieli Makhatadze (Olympic) and Matthew Molchanov (Taifu). Congrats on the great results.

Team Ontario wrapped up an outstanding weekend at the 2026 Open National Championships with strong performances across kata, ne-waza, and shiai competition.

2026 Team Ontario Highlights:
• 221 event entries
• 151 athletes
• 34 clubs represented
• 64 total medals
🥇 19 Gold
🥈 21 Silver
🥉 24 Bronze
• 23 clubs earned medals

Additional highlights from the weekend:
• 2 Ontario referees and 5 kata judges represented the province throughout the event
• Carline Young was recognized by Judo Canada as Coach of the Day on Saturday.
• Six Ontario athletes qualified for the Cadet World Championships
• Brian Kalsen, Judo Ontario President and Chair of the Judo Canada Awards Committee, led the Annual Awards Banquet and presentations at the conclusion of the event.
• Giorgi Kurashvili and Marianna Schesnuik were recognized by Judo Canada as the Outstanding U16 Male and Female Athletes of the tournament.
• Olympic Judo Centre received the 3rd place banner in the U16/U18 club ranking
• Thank you to Eryn Young for supporting Team Ontario throughout the championships as Athletic Therapist.
