From answering questions and helping with registration to making sure everyone gets where they need to be, these are some of the friendly faces you’ll see around the studio throughout the season.

Meet Ashley!

Ashley has been dancing at Raino since 2021 and is incredibly grateful to have found her way back to dance after a multi-decade hiatus due to injury and life.

She loves all styles of dance and the unique space the medium creates to tune out the rest of the world, focus on technique and connection, and most importantly have fun. To Ashley, Raino is a true gift to the city. She hopes to play a small part in reminding people that dance is for everyone, regardless of skill level and that learning and re-learning should be fun. After all,“sometimes perfect is the opposite of good.”

She’s especially excited to dive into tap this year. Her five-year-old niece has recently started dancing too, so stay tuned for the 2027 premiere of this dynamic duo.

It has been so great seeing our returning students back in class and welcoming so many new faces! There’s nothing better than seeing the studio come alive with familiar faces and new energy.

Meet Balbir !

I started dancing at Raino 8 years ago, taking a variety of styles from Hip Hop to Jazz. This is my fourth year behind the desk, and one of my favourite things about Raino is the community.

I love knowing that I can leave the day behind when I walk through the studio door and just enjoy being part of this place.

This year, I’m excited to try some new dance styles, as well as some familiar favourites with some new teachers.

Meet Michelle !

Born and raised in Victoria, I grew up dancing and took classes for 12 years before stepping away from dance after high school.

One of the things I love most about Raino is the friendly and welcoming environment it gave me when I decided to return to dance. Coming back after several years away felt intimidating at first, but Raino made it easy to feel comfortable, have fun, and rediscover my passion for dance.

This year, I’m really looking forward to Contemporary 2 & 3 as I continue working on strengthening my technique. You’ll also find me back in Jazz 2!

I’m excited to be back in the studio and look forward to dancing with everyone again! ❤️

We’re kicking off the Raino Dance season with MONDAY Contemporary, Jazz, Sass/Heels, and Tap!

The studio is ready, the music is on, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

Meet the humans who help make Raino happen!

Introducing John!

John has been dancing at Raino since 2014, exploring many styles including Contemporary, Jazz, and Ballet. He has also been an active part of Victoria’s arts community for more than 15 years, with experience in dance, theatre, writing, and visual arts.

John first helped out in the Raino office back in 2017 and returned to the front desk team in 2025. We’re so happy to have him back!

Outside of Raino, John works as a Project Management Analyst at the Ministry of Health, serves as Vice President of local dance company Broken Rhythms, and stays busy as a performer, committee member, and choreographer with Victoria On Stage.

John is SO excited for the upcoming Raino season! While he’s looking forward to all of his classes, the two he’s most excited about are Contemporary 3 and Tap 2!

~ 1 DAY TO GO! ~

Raino Dance starts TOMORROW!

We can’t wait to get back into the studio, move our bodies, meet new dancers, and kick off another amazing year of dance together!

~ Classes start Monday, September 14
~ 8+ styles of dance
~ Beginner to Advanced
~ Adults of all ages welcome

Registered for class? Keep an eye on your inbox! Everyone who has registered should receive an intro email before their class with all the information you need to get started.

🔑 Gate code: If you don’t have the gate code yet, no worries! It will be in your intro email and we’ll be keeping an eye on the gate and making sure everyone can get in.

Haven’t registered yet or planning to drop in? The earlier you book, the easier it is for us to make sure you receive all the information you need in time for class.

We also recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early during the first few weeks so you have plenty of time to find the studio, get settled, and make it to class on time.

Cassidy has been dancing at Raino since 2019 and loves dancing in all styles. This season, she’s especially excited to try something new and join Tap!

This is Cassidy’s first year working at the front desk, and she’s excited to connect with the Thursday night dancers, welcome new faces, and help newcomers find their way into the Raino community.
