I had a few sad responses from a WOD & Hyrox Nutritionist | Body recomp. clip I reposted about “masters athletes”.
There’s nothing wrong with being a masters athlete or chasing fitness and performance above 35 years of age. BUT, you do need to be conscious of a handful of details.
do you want to get fit for the short term or long-term? I hope the answer is the second one.
Are you wanting to be competitive in a specific sport or are you looking to be fit healthy and strong so you can do anything you want outside of the gym?
Are you listening to your body? Are you doing mobility to achieve movements you struggle with?
Are you getting enough sleep and proper nutrition?
Sometimes it’s easy for people to add more volume, more weight, more training sessions, more activities and races. But are you also thinking about the additional sleep, rest, recovery, nutrition, mobility, body work, and mental work to maintain and sustain that extra volume?
I’m not saying don’t do it, I’m just saying make sure you’ve got a well rounded plan of how you’re going to get there and keep yourself healthy 😉
