Christine Gerber Rutt - Intuitive Guide

I had to share this card. I pulled it this morning. When I read it I felt my body soften a little and then a lot. Tender. Do you even see, know, feel your most tender desire? It’s delicious.

It surprises many people when I tell them my biggest challenge is not going along with what I think others think I *should* do.

Over the years I’ve learned what I need in order to keep myself from letting someone else in the driver’s seat of my life.

One of these regularly taking time with zero expectations, appointments, or duties required of me.

This Sunday I had the delight of having the apartment to myself for the entire day. I’ve always lived with other people (& usually multiple people) so this is a rare occasion.

I scheduled a Deep Velvet Yes Day: only doing things that I wanted to do in the moment and not planning the next.

Here’s some of what I did:
1. Made a rainforest jazz spa for my plants.
2. Pulled cards.
3. Using my grandmother’s sewing kit to fix a curtain that has been broken for months.
4. Found this entry in an old journal about the physical feeling sensation of love.
5. Played around with frames I found at a thrift shop yesterday.
6. Said yes to a coffee with a friend who is having a challenging time & really needed someone to listen.
7. I wanted to make the infinity symbol & then I wanted to fast sketch the trees. 🤷‍♀️
8. Massaging my leg & hip hoping to relieve some of the constant pain I’ve been in this week.
9. Bought myself flowers, just cuz.

Not shown:
•well, lots isn’t shown and also—remembering it was the day my husband & I got legally married 30 years ago. (We don’t celebrate & forget it every year.)
•moments of boredom & loneliness & wondering why I was doing this. And that is part of it. Letting myself be bored. Listening to music. Looking at the wall. Feeling the air on my face.

One of the things that helps me not get sidetracked by what others think I “should” do is something Cass Phelps, one of my teachers, said years ago: “Stay in what feels nourishing & build from there. This tea set in a box feels pickly-pear-flesh yumm. Is “pickly-pear-flesh-yumm” a thing? 🤷‍♀️

Seduce joy maybe.
•Joy in the purple spinach shade from the seedlings that Dev Rivers 🌿 Herbal Tea & Plant Medicine gave a few summers ago & are still growing every year.
•Joy in the juice dripping from blanched peaches inspired by my Blackbumper Mennonite step-grandmother who I once spied blanching tomatoes for burgers.
•Peaches & Cream Pie for Ms 26 who has gone to rough a hell of a year and has somehow managed to remain full of love.
•Joy in stacks of books from the local library, the local Bücher-Brocky, some borrowed from friends, some bought over the years, and scraps of paper written by myself.
•Joy in paper and ink while waiting in the hospital.
•Joy in my morning coffee & cards made by me
•Joy in morning cat rubs and drawing.
•Joy in preparing a
•Joy in playing around with an idea for a hand-drawn and written journal/tracker/??
•Joy in seeing this beast of a flower for the first time and even if on the tail end.

Joy in listening to the music of life and dancing with it, one beat at a time.
