Hoy era el conteo de reinitas de eBird Costa Rica y en The Nest tuvimos fiesta de reinitas cerúlea. ¡Contamos hasta seis individuos! Estas fotografías son de un talentoso visitante anónimo que viajó desde San José exclusivamente para buscar fotografías de esta hermosa reinita. Definitivamente valió la pena su esfuerzo.

Today was the warbler count organized by eBird Costa Rica and at The Nest Nature Center we had Cerulean Warbler party. We had six individuals! This photos are from our “talented anonymous guest” who traveled all the way from San Jose just to photograph this beautiful warbler. Fortunately it didn’t disappoint.

¡Una Reinita Cerúlea bajó al suelo a buscar insectos al compost de desechos orgánicos! Increíble verla tan bajo, y aún así es increíblemente frustrante de fotografiar. ¡Un ave migratoria súper importante que nunca deja de moverse!

A Cerulean Warbler came down to ground level looking for insects at our compost pile! Unbelievable. Even at eye level this warbler is frustratingly hard to photograph. An important migratory bird that never stops moving.

Ayer hace un año vimos la primer Reinita Cerúlea de la migración de otoño del 2025. Hoy, un año y un día después registramos la primera del 2026! Bienvenidas las aves migratorias.

Yesterday marks one year since we saw the first Cerulean Warbler of the 2025 fall migration. Today, one year and one day later, we see the first one of 2026! Welcome, migratory birds!

Periquito barbinaranja/Orange-chinned Parakeet (Brotogeris jugularis)
Un pequeño loro que habita desde el sur de México hasta Colombia y Venezuela.
En esta especie, machos y hembras no se distinguen a simple vista. Sin embargo, al observar esta foto, algunos asegurarán que pueden identificar cuál es cuál.
