During the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, Davor Jozić carved out a unique place in Yugoslav football history.
The central defender, who was playing for Cesena in Italy at the time, scored an impressive two goals during the tournament.

His first came against West Germany in Yugoslavia’s 4-1 defeat, while his second — the one we revisit today — was scored against René Higuita’s Colombia in a crucial group-stage match.

Scoring twice in a single World Cup is a remarkable achievement for any defender, and Jozić’s goals helped make him one of the tournament’s most unexpected contributors.

On June 18, 1974, at the FIFA World Cup in West Germany, Yugoslavia produced one of the most dominant performances ever seen on football's biggest stage. Facing Zaire in their second group match, the Plavi delivered a stunning 9-0 victory — a result that remains one of the largest winning margins in World Cup history.

From the opening whistle, Yugoslavia showcased the technical brilliance, creativity and attacking flair that made them one of Europe's most respected footballing nations. The goals flowed relentlessly as wave after wave of blue shirts overwhelmed the African champions.

Leading the charge was Dušan Bajević, who scored a magnificent hat-trick, finding the net in the 1st, 52nd and 81st minutes. His clinical finishing set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon.

The remaining goals highlighted the wealth of talent within the Yugoslav squad. Legendary winger Dragan Džajić curled home a trademark free-kick, while Ivica Šurjak, Josip Katalinski, Vladislav Bogićević, Branko Oblak and Ilija Petković all added their names to the scoresheet.
