Deposit guarantee or secure deposit account: what is the difference?

With a deposit guarantee, the tenant pays a monthly premium instead of putting down the full deposit at move-in. The premium is the price of the guarantee rather than savings, and the tenant stays responsible for the move-out settlement.

With a secure deposit account, the tenant pays the deposit, and it is held in a locked account in the tenant’s own name with a regulated financial partner instead of with the landlord.

Most of our work happens across countries and screens.

Last week, the whole Keyhole team was in one place.

We came together in Horsens for Social Week: a full week to share ideas, record new content and spend time with colleagues we do not always get to see in person.

Our CEO, Rasmus, helped set the direction for the week. But what made it valuable was the contribution from every person in the room.

Across technology, product, sales, operations and marketing, we shared what we are working on, learned from different perspectives and had the kind of conversations that are simply easier when everyone is sitting around the same table.

Some moments were planned. Others happened over lunch, between recordings or during the small conversations that rarely make it onto an agenda.

We finished the week with clearer ideas, a better understanding of each other’s work and plenty of good memories.

Thank you to Rasmus for bringing us together, and to the whole Keyhole team for making the week what it was.

Moving countries means waiting for things. An ID number. A bank appointment. An account. The deposit shouldn’t be one more thing standing between you and the keys.

With Keyhole Secure your identity can be verified digitally and the deposit can be paid from abroad, so it also works without a Norwegian personnummer. The account is in your name and locked.

Most people aren’t sure, so here is the simple version: instead of the tenant locking up three months deposit, they pay a small monthly fee. The landlord keep the exact same security.

It’s that time of year again: the growth team is together in Oslo.

Twice a year Jeppe, Barbara and Emma sit down for a week to work on the strategy behind Keyhole and PayProff.

But what matters more than sitting around writing long documents?

We like to stop for a second and look at the whole thing — zoom out, take it all in, then zoom back in and work on what actually needs us.

In 2015, a man won the 6633 Arctic Ultra. 120 miles across the frozen Arctic. More than an hour ahead of second place.

Six weeks earlier, he had started another Arctic race with a fever in minus 30 degrees and was forced to pull out after 120 kilometers. Then he came back and won.

Meet Jørgen. Officially, our Head of Strategic Partnerships for Germany and Europe. Unofficially, our bridge builder.

Today he lives between two countries. He works in Germany and calls Tunø, a small Danish island, home. Germany for the opportunities. Denmark for the people he loves.

He could have retired years ago. Instead he chose a new chapter. Not because he had to, but because he still sees possibilities where others see complexity.

Four decades in finance, pensions, investments and technology taught him one simple thing. Markets are built on trust. Partnerships are built on trust. Housing is built on trust. When trust is missing, everything gets slower, more expensive and more complicated.
