Remembering Francisco “Paco” Goyoaga – A Legend of Spanish Showjumping
Long before modern showjumping became the global sport we know today, one rider carried Spain’s name proudly onto the world stage – Francisco “Paco” Goyoaga.

✨ In 1953, Paco stunned the equestrian world by winning the European Show Jumping Championship in Rotterdam, a milestone that put Spain firmly on the international map. Known for his fiery riding style and incredible connection with his horses, he became one of the most admired showjumpers of the 1950s.

🐴 His famous horse Quórum remains part of equestrian history, remembered for their powerful partnership that inspired a generation of riders.

🌍 Paco’s legacy isn’t just about medals – it’s about passion, courage, and proving that Spanish riders could shine among the best in Europe. Today, we look back with pride at a true pioneer of our sport.

👉 Did you know? Goyoaga came from a family of horsemen and went on to inspire future champions across Spain.

Today marks a significant milestone: the completion of the Cross Country course renovation at the 2002 World Equestrian Games site in Jerez, located on the Ministry of Defense's Garrapilos estate.

This achievement is the result of a collaborative agreement between the Ministry of Defense, the Anglo-Arab Breeders Association, and the Jerez City Council.

We extend our gratitude to all involved and commend this positive development for Spain's three-day eventing.
