ANNOUNCEMENT: TEAM KIRIBATI โ€“ Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026

The Kiribati National Olympic Committee (KNOC) through Selection Justification Committee is proud to officially announce TEAM KIRIBATI for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026.
This team has been confirmed following the work of the Selection Justification Committee, which carried out its responsibilities from the Pacific Mini Games in Palau 2025 and has now finalized the athletes who will represent Kiribati on the international stage.
All athletes are reminded that compliance with the policies and requirements of the SJC is mandatory. Failure to comply may lead to removal from Team Kiribati.
Currently, Team Kiribati is undergoing a two months training camp program, financially supported by KNOC and strengthened by the Kiribati Governmentโ€™s provision of venues and facilities. These camps are designed to sharpen performance, build confidence, and prepare our athletes for the challenges of international competition.

๐Ÿ’ช We call on families, communities, and the people of Kiribati to unite in spirit and stand behind our athletes. Your encouragement will inspire them to succeed and proudly carry the Kiribati flag at the Commonwealth Games.
Together, let us celebrate resilience, determination, and national pride as Team Kiribati steps onto the world stage.

The 2026 Oceania Athletes' Forum concluded with five binding commitments led clearly by athletes.

It also brought together Athlete Commission (AC) representatives from 17 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) across Oceania under the theme 'Inspiration to Action'. Over two intensive days, delegates moved through a structured programme designed not just to inform, but to activate. At its core was a commitment to athlete-led governance: athletes shaping the decisions that affect their lives in sport, from the training ground to the boardroom.

A proud moment for our Oceania family! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿฅ‡

We're absolutely thrilled to share that the PNG Olympic Committee has won at the very first-ever IOA Awards, taking home the honour for Community Engagement and Social Impact educational programmes.

A huge congratulations also goes to The NZ Team, recognised for their outstanding Athlete Development programmes. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

The award was presented in Ancient Olympia on 21 May, with delegates from more than 100 countries looking on. It celebrates the people doing the real, everyday work - turning Olympic values into something you can actually see and feel in schools, communities, and on the ground.

Congratulations from all of us at ONOC ๐Ÿ‘

ONOC Media Release - Oceania's athletes take centre stage as their own Forum opens in Auckland 08/06/2026

The day after athlete representatives joined the ONOC Annual General Assembly for the first time in our history, nearly 40 of them gathered in Auckland for the 2026 Oceania Athletes Forum, under the theme Inspiration to Action.

Opened by NZ Olympian Sarah Walker and led by the ONOC Athletes' Commission, the morning brought IOC President Kirsty Coventry and ONOC President Baklai Temengil-Chilton into the room to talk with the athletes, not at them.
