Community Sports Brings Smiles to Bua Village! ๐๐ธ๐ณ
โWhat an incredible day of fun, movement, and energy at Bua Village, one of the largest villages in the Bua District!
โOur Kids in Community Sports (KICS) program was filled with non-stop excitement as local youth jumped right into action:
โRugby Fundamentals: Kids honed their fundamental skills, focusing on catch-and-pass drills and competitive ball relays.
โBadminton & Bowling: For many of the children, today was their very first time trying out badminton and lawn bowling! They took to the new sports with great enthusiasm and quick skill-building.
โYouth & Volleyball: We were thrilled to see the village youth join in the fun, setting up their own stations and bringing high energy to the volleyball court.
โSeeing the bright smiles across every child's face as they rotated through the sports stations made the entire day worthwhile.
โVinaka Vakalevu & Special Thanks:
โTo the Tui Bua: For generously granting permission and allowing us to utilize the village grounds for our activities.
โTo the Parents & Guardians: For showing up, supporting the kids, and cheering them on throughout the day.

๐ซ๐ฏ TURNING SKILLS INTO OPPORTUNITIES โ EMPOWERING FIJIโS YOUTH! ๐ช๐ฝ๐
One week. New skills. New confidence. New opportunities. A brighter future.
The Fiji National Sports Commission, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Nasau Youth Training Centre, successfully concluded a one-week Educational and Sports Training Programme for secondary school students at Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi.
The programme culminated in a certificate presentation ceremony, officially closed by the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Jese Saukuru, who challenged the young participants to take the skills they have gained and turn them into real opportunities.
๐ผ Employment
๐ก Entrepreneurship
๐ Sports development
๐ค Leadership
๐ฑ Community development
๐๐ฅ SKILLS FOR LIFE
Throughout the week, our young participants were equipped with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in:
๐ Cricket
๐ฅ Boxing
๐ง๐ฝโ๐ซ World Rugby Level 1 Coaching
๐ World Rugby Match Officiating
โ๏ธ World Rugby First Aid in Rugby
๐ฑ Horticulture
These are more than just skills โ they are tools that can open doors and create pathways for our young people.
๐ซ๐ฏ A MESSAGE OF CHOICE, RESPONSIBILITY AND PURPOSE
In addressing the participants, the Honourable Minister reminded them that success is not simply about having skills โ it is about the choices we make and how responsibly we use those skills.
He encouraged the young people to:
๐ซ Say NO to drugs
๐ก๏ธ Protect themselves from HIV
๐งช Get tested and know their status
๐ Become positive role models
๐ค Give back to their communities
๐ซ๐ฏ Become responsible future leaders of Fiji
The Minister also highlighted Youth Grants ranging from FJ$1,000 to FJ$5,000, providing young people and youth groups with an opportunity to transform their ideas, projects and community initiatives into action.
For our young people, this means that an idea does not have to remain just an idea.
With the right support, an idea can become a project.A project can become an opportunity.
An opportunity can change a community. ๐๐ซ๐ฏ
๐ CERTIFICATES OF ACHIEVEMENT
The presentation of certificates marked more than the completion of a one-week programme.
It represented commitment, discipline, courage and a willingness to learn.
These young people chose to sacrifice part of their school holiday to invest in themselves and their future โ and today, they can proudly say:
โI have learned. I have grown. I am equipped. I am ready.โ ๐๐ฝ
