A small technical mistake when looking forward can completely break your body position, slow you down, and waste a lot of energy during a race.
That’s exactly why I’m sharing coaching content as an official OpenSwim coach : to help you feel more confident and prepared in open water !

On the right, the knees bend too much and the ankles stay stiff. Instead of moving forward, some swimmers actually start going backwards with this kind of kick.
On the left, the legs stay much longer, the kick starts from the hips, and the ankles stay loose so the movement flows much more naturally through the water.
A freestyle kick should feel smooth and continuous, not forced and heavy.
