🛝A tired playground, completely reimagined at Crockham Hill.

🌲Crockham Hill Primary's playground transformation is complete. Out went tired old equipment and worn surfacing; in came a play cafe, mud kitchen, timber tipis and a sandpit for the little ones, a goal unit and skills and colour walls for the sports area, and a full trim trail of balance walks, wobble boards, log rolls and a jigsaw traverse wall, all on fresh wetpour surfacing.

Outdoor play budgets are being stretched thinner than ever.

Latest research from the Association of Play Industries found that 65% of schools spent less than £10,000 on outdoor play over the last three years, with many juggling pressures around space, staffing and competing priorities.

As an API member, we see how real those challenges are for schools every day. That's why long-term value matters more than ever: outdoor spaces need to be durable, flexible and built to evolve with pupils over time, so every pound goes further.

API members are rigorously monitored for financial stability and professional standards, so schools can invest with confidence in projects built to last.

Latest research from the Association of Play Industries found that playground markings and mud kitchens are the most common features in school play areas, while higher-challenge equipment like swings, trampolines and climbing equipment is found in fewer than 1 in 10 schools.

Less challenge means fewer opportunities for physical, social and mental development.

As an API member, we create flexible, multifunctional play spaces that give children the variety and challenge they need.
