💗🖤 300 CAPS FOR SCOTT MCKENZIE! 🖤💗

This Saturday against Windsor, we celebrate a true Aylesbury Rugby legend as Scott McKenzie runs out for his 300th appearance for the club 👏

From pulling on the magenta and black for the very first time as an Under 7, Scott has gone all the way through the age grades, proudly representing Bucks County at numerous levels, before becoming a key part of our senior sides.

Not only has Scott been an outstanding player, but he also led from the front as Club Captain from 2020–2023, showing the commitment, passion, and pride that embodies Aylesbury Rugby.

300 games in magenta and black is an incredible milestone – congratulations Scott, and thank you for everything you continue to give to our club both on and off the field 🙌

Let’s get behind the lads this weekend and give Scott the support he deserves as he reaches this remarkable landmark!

🏉 Timo Invitational Tournament – Thank You! 🏉

A huge thank you to all the players from Aylesbury, Risborough Rugby Club and Banbury Rugby Club for an incredible day of rugby yesterday – and to everyone who came down to support, it made for a fantastic atmosphere. 💗🖤

👏 Congratulations to Mylo Davis and Ben Every – two of our colts stepping up from junior rugby and already showing they’ve got a bright future in the senior club. We’re looking forward to seeing more of their teammates make the step up this season after all their hard work during pre-season.

Welcome also to our new arrivals, Sam Smith, Selous Nicolls and Rhys Nicolle, who made their first appearances in magenta and black. All three had a massive impact when on the pitch, and it’s exciting to see how they and this team develop over the coming season – big things are on the horizon! 🌟

Yesterday was about more than just rugby. It was a brilliant occasion to remember our mate Timo, and in true Timo fashion, thanks to Jack Gray for keeping the tradition alive by making sure there was at least one scuffle during the afternoon! 🔥😂

We’d also like to thank our ever-present photographer, Darren Slater – we’ll be sharing some of his magnificent work in a separate post soon. 📸

This Saturday (16th Aug) the legendary Aylesbury RFC Fatlads XV return for the Timo Invitational Tournament – a day packed with rugby, laughs, and plenty of the kind of shenanigans Timo would have loved. 🍻

It’s hard to believe it’s a year since we lost him. This tournament is about more than just rugby – it’s about celebrating Timo’s spirit, his mischief, and the friendships he built across the club.

We’re buzzing to welcome Risborough RFC and Banbury RFC for what promises to be a brilliant afternoon:

🦁 Second Test Incoming – Series on the Line!

Join us this Saturday (27th July) at Aylesbury Rugby Club as the British & Irish Lions take on Australia in the crucial Second Test of the Qatar Airways Lions Men’s Series.

🏆 After a commanding 27–19 victory in the First Test in Brisbane, the Lions lead the series 1–0 . They raced into a 17–5 halftime lead thanks to tries by Sione Tuipulotu, Tom Curry, and Dan Sheehan, with Finn Russell's early penalty and slick play putting the game beyond Australia’s reach. The Wallabies fought back late but couldn't close the gap.

Stand-out displays:
• Finn Russell topped the Lions with a creative, composed 8/10 performance at fly-half.
• Tom Curry, Tadhg Beirne, Dan Sheehan, and Jamison Gibson‑Park were praised for their defensive resilience and breakdown dominance
Australia, meanwhile, showed grit, scoring late through Carlo Tizzano and Tate McDermott, but will be boosted by returning forwards like Rob Valetini and Will Skelton.

Now it’s time for the Lions to seal the deal.

“To get off to a winning start is huge … That puts the pressure on for next week … We’re in a fantastic place.”

He added that while Australia will come out fighting, the Lions are now perfectly positioned to seal the series with a great performance.
