As always, we loved Sales Club yesterday!

"Ash Bennett and Richard York well done to you both for such a great session this morning. Really valuable to actually stop and step away from to day to day, to properly think about your own business. Made even better by doing it while meeting some brilliant new people. Looking forward to the next one."

"...such an informative and interactive session. You are giving great value through these and I found it a great session today for gaining clarity in my own business."

"...brilliant value and so informative. Loved being part of it and meeting so many new faces. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you Ash and Richard."

We're already looking forward to the next one!

Harsh truth: nobody cares about you. Not yet, anyway.

Not your product, not your service, not your business. Not until you've given them a reason to.

We say this on day one of every Sales Club session because it stops people making the classic mistake: walking into a conversation talking about themselves.

Good prospecting isn't a pitch. It's generating an opportunity for a conversation, that's it. Ask about them first. Their world, their problem, what's actually keeping them up at night.

Earn the relationship, and suddenly they care plenty.

You can tell everything about a sales culture by what happens the moment after someone loses a deal.

In some teams, it's silence, or worse, a quiet dig about what they should have done differently. In the best teams I've seen, it's a debrief that feels more like curiosity than blame: what happened, what would you try differently, what do the rest of us need to know. Nobody's having their confidence quietly chipped away deal by deal.

High performing sales cultures aren't built on foosball tables and Friday drinks, as nice as those are. They're built on how a team handles the bad news, not just the good news. If people are hiding their losses instead of sharing them, you've already lost the thing that actually drives performance.

Tag a sales leader who gets this right.

If I asked ten of your customers why they buy from you, I'd put money on 'price' being nowhere near the top of the list.

We use a simple framework in Sales Club called C.U.R.E.

Business owners often assume they're competing on price when they're actually winning or losing on how easy they are to deal with, what makes them different, and whether people genuinely like working with them.

Ask a business owner what their CURE is and watch half of them struggle to answer in one sentence. If you can't say clearly what makes you different, your customers can't either, and that's the moment they start shopping on price because you've given them nothing else to compare.

At our next Sales Club on Thursday 1st October in Aylesbury, we discuss C.U.R.E.....grab your free ticket and find out, "What's Your CURE"?

Tag a business owner who needs to work out their CURE before their next sales conversation.

What's Your C.U.R.E. – a simple yet powerful tool to redefine how you connect with customers and stand out in the market.

Will AI replace salespeople? Wrong question.

The right one: will it replace salespeople who refuse to use it?

AI can write your follow up email, summarise your call notes, even flag which deals are going quiet before you've noticed. What it can't do is sit across the table from a nervous business owner and make them feel like someone's finally got their back.

The future of sales isn't robots doing the job. It's salespeople who use the tools to kill the admin, so they've got more time for the bit only a human can do: actually building trust.

The teams who figure that out first will have a serious head start. Share this with someone still doing everything the hard way.

'I can't.' Two words that kill more good ideas than any competitor ever will.

I see it in sales teams all the time. Someone has a rough month, one deal falls through, and suddenly the story in their head becomes 'I can't do this' instead of 'that one didn't work out.' Michael Jordan missed over 9,000 shots in his career and lost almost 300 games. Thomas Edison used to say he hadn't failed, he'd just found 10,000 ways that wouldn't work. Neither of them let one bad result become their whole identity.

The trick isn't pretending setbacks don't sting. It's catching the negative thought before it becomes the story you tell yourself about who you are. 'I can't' closes a door. 'I can't yet' leaves it open.

Tag someone who needs reminding that one bad week doesn't mean they've lost it.

Ever had someone go quiet on you after a great first date, no explanation, just silence?

Sales has the exact same problem. We just call it ghosting.

It happens for the same reasons too: too much pressure too soon, bad timing, they found someone else (the competition), or you came across unprepared without realising it.

The fix isn't chasing harder, it's closing the gap between contact, offering something small and useful while you wait, and staying easy to like. And if someone's properly gone quiet, the cheeky "should I be offended you're ghosting me" message works better than any polite follow-up ever has.

Tag someone in sales who's been ghosted by a hot lead this month. We've all got a story.

If you want things to change, you have to change first. Not your target, not your market, you.

Skillset gets you the ability. Mindset gets you the belief. Goal set gets you the direction. Miss one and the other two run out of steam fast, brilliant skills with no direction just spin in circles, big goals with no mindset behind them fold at the first setback.

Every January, and let's be honest every September too, everyone writes a goal down. Only a handful actually build the habits and triggers that carry it past week three.

So here's the honest question. Who's going to be in the group that actually acts on what they set this year, rather than just writing it down and hoping?

Tag a mate who needs to hear this before the year runs out on them.

The only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Not the top performer down the road. Not the version of you that had a lucky quarter three years ago. Just yesterday's you.

Skillset gets you in the room. Mindset keeps you there when it's hard. Goals give you a reason to keep showing up on the days neither of those feel like enough.

Tag someone who needs telling this today.

Price is only ever a problem when the value hasn't been explained.

Convenience. Uniqueness. Relationship. Expense. Know your CURE and you stop competing on the number and start competing on the reasons someone should actually choose you.

What's the one thing that makes your customers pick you over someone cheaper?
