Returning to BSB / Round 1

It was always going to be a challenge returning to BSB and Oulton Park after almost two years away from both the championship and the circuit.

We had a positive test and felt comfortable with the bike, heading into the weekend in a strong position.

Unfortunately, the week leading into Round 1 was extremely difficult, with Simon suffering from illness and spending much of the week in bed with food poisoning. Even participating was in doubt at times.

Free practice and qualifying were encouraging. Learning more about the bike and building confidence each session, Simon qualified 11th, with just a few tenths covering a large group of riders, all things considered we were happy.

The race itself didn’t start as planned. Launch control issues off the line made lap one difficult, but Simon fought back into the points, with a strong top-10 result looking realistic.

Ultimately, we didn’t achieve the result our pace deserved this weekend, but the potential shown by Simon and the team working together is extremely encouraging.

The monkey is off the back, and we can head to Donington Park with confidence. We really can’t wait to get back at it.
