The U8s have begun their season with some really brilliant performances. We’re focusing on how we can encourage our team mates and put some of what we’ve learnt in training into practice. We’re looking forward to our first ever cup game this coming Saturday!

Overton Youth Women so nearly pulled it back to take this cup game to Penalties but it just wasn’t to be. The opposition took a 2-0 lead before Maja squeezed her shot over the line from the tightest of angles after Michelle won the ball in midfield to make it 2-1. Heading into the second half there were opportunities to level but the home team made it 3-1. On the 65 min mark Lottie picked up the ball in the middle and split the defense perfectly with her pass for Chloe to shoot across the keeper into the far corner....3-2. Like before there were opportunities to level but with 5 mins to play the home team made if 4-2 whilst Overton were pushing high up for an equalizer. Almost immediately Chloe’s pass beyond the defensive line allowed Maja to sprint onto it and slot her shot calmly passed the keeper….4-3…with just a couple of minutes left the team put everything into it to make it 4-4 but the home managed to keep it out of their final third with the final whistle coming with the score at 4-3. A break for the team next Sunday, then Overton Youth Women travel to Pavilion Panthers Women on the 4th October.

Another win for Overton Youth Women makes it an unbeaten start to the season. Our midfield and attack caused problems for the opposition throughout the first half and the break-through came after Eva ran with the ball from our goal-line and drove deep into the oppositions half down the left, the ball worked its way out towards Jess on the right who split the defense with a pass for Maja to take a instinctive shot and it was 1-0 to Overton. There were opportunities for both teams and Gem consistently saved all one on ones throughout the whole game; a fantastic performance from our keeper. With a 1-0 lead the team needed a second and it came through Maja driving through on goal, with Chloe placing her shot into the far corner after a good initial save from the keeper off Maja's shot. The opposition managed to get one back from a corner with 20 minutes to play but the team dug deep to earn the win. With three of our centre-midfield players unavailable credit to Leah, Anna and Louisa working tirelessly in that role with Sophia needing to help out at centre-back and centre midfield rather than her usual attacking position in the second half. Next Sunday we take a break from the league and have a cup game away to Hedge End Rangers.

A deserved win today for Overton Youth Women but the team had to battle for it against a very physical opposition. Chloe put us ahead within 5 mins (1-0) slotting the ball into the back of the net after a long kick from Gem. 20 mins in there was only one team in it but some sustained pressure for 10 mins from Lymington put the game at 1-1. Overton kept pushing and soon after scored taking us 2-1 into half-time; Sophia worked hard out wide to get the ball into the box with Maja then anticipating the bounce to bag her first goal. Into the second half Overton played some great football but Lymington managed to equalize again. Overton continued to keep their composure in all areas and won a free-kick with 10 mins to go; up stepped Sophia…..the shot was goal-bound but their defenders did well to stop it, only for Maja to curl her foot around the rebound and smash it into the back of the net (3-2). A couple of late scares were dealt with by our keeper and defense who were superb – a well deserved win for the team!

We’re back! The season is officially underway with 8 home matches and record numbers in minis and juniors. Berrydown was buzzing and there were loads of goals, skills and smiles.

The football boot exchange started with multiple pairs being dropped off and taken, plenty more coming next week! Don’t forget to bring down any boots your child has outgrown to Berrydown when you have a home game.

First league game of the season for our Women’s team almost ended with a 1-0 win but the opposition managed to find an equalizer with 25 seconds left to play. With 7 players making their first league appearance for the team and up against a team who won both games against us last season, it was a great start to the season. Overton dominated the first 20 minutes and Chloe was unlucky not to put the team in front with a header coming in from a corner. The defensive was solid throughout and restricted Rushmoor’s attack but when they did get through Carol (stand-in keeper for the day) pulled out some fine saves. Second half was more even but the deadlock was broken when Maja won a free-kick well outside the box out to the right; up stepped Sophia who powered the shot high over the goalkeepers head…unstoppable! With seconds to spare Rushmoor equalized with a well placed ball over the defensive line which was taken well. Good positive start to the season – well played all ⚽️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️⚽️
