Our community loves to play golf, but they also love getting to know business leaders off the course.

Those conversations allow members to identify potential synergies, build trust and understand each other’s businesses and then strengthen those relationships on the golf course.

Yesterday, we hosted our weekly Virtual Roll Up, where Sean Fergusson asked attendees to share their top tips on membership and their networking styles with some of our newer members.

What followed was some brilliant advice and these tips could be applied to anyone’s approach to business growth and networking:

Alex Clifford – Have a 1-2-1 with everyone, and always arrange the next meeting before you finish. It keeps both parties aligned and accountable.

James Doubtfire – Being present in the room is critical. Take notes, listen and become the go-to person within your network.

David Murphy – Seek out the people who look like they’re on their own. They may simply be shy or new to the room and appreciate someone making the effort to start a conversation.

Joe Mitchell-Charman – “All my business has come from referrals, and that’s because I don’t let people down.”

Which raises an interesting question: the more 1-2-1s you have, the more opportunities you create?

Geoff Dyckes - Life Centred Financial Planner - Your life. Your plan. Your terms – Don’t sell to the room. Be the most helpful person in the room — it will come back to you tenfold.

Jon Graham, MARLA – Upgrading to Flexi has supercharged my business, and I always follow up after every FORE Business meeting I attend.

Mellers – I only joined two weeks ago, but I can already see the value in simply turning up and being present.

Josh Thompson – At your group meetings, sit next to people you haven’t met before. It opens up so many new conversations.

Jon Carr - JC – I’ve started inviting my customers to join FORE Business. It allows me to play more golf while spending valuable time building relationships with my clients.

I’m also starting to introduce some of my customers to other FORE Business members, creating opportunities for both sides.

Our final day at the incredible Craigielaw Golf Club was the perfect finish to an unforgettable week and what a course!

A true hidden gem that every golfer should have on their list to visit and play. The course was presented beautifully, and the hospitality was second to none.

A huge thank you to Jonathan and every member of your team. You were absolutely first class from start to finish, and your professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail helped make the day such a success.

Bringing members from Scotland, Wales and England together through golf was something incredibly special.

The friendships, competition, and memories created over the past three events are exactly what our community is all about.
