Part II…

Meet Jen, our Club Secretary and another one of our founding members.

The one keeping everything organised behind the scenes… and if there's a spreadsheet involved, she's probably already colour-coded it. Whether she's helping out on court, organising events or making sure the club keeps running smoothly, she's often found juggling a dozen jobs at once (with a Diet Coke in hand!).

🏐 Netball Origins Story…
Team sports weren't really her thing growing up. In fact, her school sporting career was cut short after being told she was a little too competitive for the opposition... 😬

Instead, she swapped the sports hall for muddy fields, spending years in the countryside with her horses and happily competing against herself.

Netball found her when her daughter's team needed an extra pair of hands on match days. One helping hand quickly turned into helping at training, then fundraising, event planning and all the behind-the-scenes jobs that keep a grassroots club ticking.

Somewhere along the way she’s now accidentally become an Assistant Coach and Club Secretary...

The best part? Watching players grow in confidence, build lifelong friendships and creating memories they'll treasure long after they've hung up their bibs. That's more than enough to make standing courtside in the middle of winter worthwhile.

😊 We are so proud to support Wixams junior Park Run’s very first 2K junior run today

What a beautiful day to get up and at em!
… and every girls today did just that, pushing themselves and getting out of their comfort zone.

🗣️ A big shout out to Georgia who completed her very first ever Park Run herself and what great determination she displayed 👏🏻

With girls across both years 4-6 and the 7-8 age group, it was just nice to kick the summer activities off and get together. We can see this catching on !

👀 Also we found a familiar face from another netball club … netball girls together, supporting each other 🫶🏻

🙌🏻 A quick mention to what a fantastic job the Park Run volunteers did especially as it was their first outing. Thank you all for making this happen for Wixams.

The junior season has just concluded 😞

🏐… and it can feel a long period before we hit the courts again. But we think it’s really important to stay active over this period, not just putting the ball down and forgetting it and staying ‘netball ready’

🏃‍♀️ Take a look at some of the simple things you can do, cost free over the summer holidays.

☀️ As a new club we actually will be putting on some sessions and events over the summer holidays to not only bring the girls together but we also feel strongly about building those relationships…. Not just of the young ones but also those parents and guardians who invest so much time.

🐦‍🔥 The Faces Of Phoenix 🐦‍🔥

Meet Paul, our head coach and one of the founders of Phoenix Netball Club.

Probably one of our hairier Faces of Phoenix… and certainly not your stereotypical netball coach. The beard might give him away on court but if not, the booming coaching voice definitely will!

🏐 Netball Origins Story…

It all started after being persuaded (or bullied… depending who you ask!) by his daughters to “help out” at netball. Fast forward and before you know it he was team coach.
With a background in team sports, including semi-professional football, plus qualifications in education and training, coaching was probably inevitable.
Seeing the team win Division 2 in his very first season confirmed he’d caught the coaching bug. Since then, he’s become passionate about helping young players grow in confidence, learn life skills and enjoy every minute of the game.
Completing his Netball coaching qualifications to top off a whirlwind couple of years, there is no turning back now!

📣 We are so pleased to announce that we have secured the support of Uk’s leading Master developer ‘Urban & Civic’. Wixams

The master developer for the expansion and growth of Wixams itself, Urban & Civic were very keen to champion the growth of youth sport in Wixams and they have jumped on board and will be one of our main sponsors in the coming season.

🏐 You will see them pride of place on our dresses soon and we are so happy to have this ongoing relationship with them. They have made it clear that this is much more then sponsorship and have already been an amazing asset in our success so far.

It was a packed Bedford Academy today for the Beds & District League, end of season tournament for the juniors!
What a great way to end the season, with excitement and an amazing turn out.

Being there today supporting Bedford Tiger 🐯 was a strange feeling as we prepare to start our own journey. We will continue to support Tigers as our first love, first netball club!

As things start to wind down for the summer break, we start planning bringing our teams together with summer sessions and events. Watch the space! 👀

It’s only right that we take some time today to celebrate those fathers who show up and support their daughters!

Having been down to the courts today at Bedford Academy it was amazing to see so many Dads spending their Father’s Day cheering on their girls, being cheerleaders, taxi services, coat hangers and medics all rolled into one. Where else would we want to be? 👊🏻

It is time!

We are not all about netball, we actively support all sports and with the World Cup underway we will be cheering on the three lions as they take on Croatia for their first group game tonight!

Let’s hope they can get out of the group and maybe we can get together a little Phoenix gathering to watch a game! (If we can get one that doesn’t start at 2am 🙄)
