Here are the four weightlifters heading to the 2026 Commonwealth Games with Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland!
British Champions Hannah Crymble and Harrison McGrogan lead the team with Kaitlin Saunders and Omar Keshta doubling the number of qualified weightlifters from the 2022 Games.

This month our Digital Learning Hub launched a new course aimed at attracting and retaining club members.
On this course you will learn how to understand their needs whilst using data to guide your approach. It also covers how to keep members coming back by building an inclusive club culture, improving communication, and reducing drop‑off.

Receive up to £5,000 in match funding!
Creating Opportunities, made possible thanks to funding from National Lottery Good Causes, is back for sports clubs and organisations to put on new initiatives to encourage participation in sport and physical activity.
The match funding amount has increased with Sport NI pledging 65% of an organisations Crowdfunder campaign total up to a maximum of £5,000.

Get ready to try outdoor sport!
From the 8-14 June, special events are taking place to encourage women & girls to try outdoor sports as part of our Be Seen, Be Heard, Belong campaign.
We have teamed up with Swim Ulster, getactiveabc, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, The Outdoor Partnership Northern Ireland & Outscape to offer free & low cost activities.
So far, events confirmed to take place include Get Wet Stay Safe, Sailing Taster Sessions, Hill Skills, Social Cycling and Riverside Walk and Tea, showcasing the range of activities for all abilities, ages and preference.

The £3.2m Melvin Sports Complex upgrade is now open!
The works were made possible thanks to £1.8m of National Lottery Good Causes funding through the Sport NI Multi Facility Fund.
Demonstrations of the new boxing facility and multi-use sports hall took place with Mourne Golden Gloves Boxing Club, Lisnafin ABC Boxing Club and Melvin Gymnastics.
New changing accommodation, a Changing Places Facility, additional storage, and accessible car parking spaces also form part of the development.

The first 2026 World Rowing Cup series meet takes place in Seville with three NI athletes in action.
Athlete Award recipient, funded by National Lottery Good Causes, Sophia Young will compete for Rowing Ireland in the Women’s Double Scull whilst Konan Pazzaia, supported by our Sports Institute, will be in the Men’s Quadruple Scull.
Olympic gold medallist Hannah Scott will represent British Rowing in the Women's Quadruple Sculls. Good luck to our NI athletes as the competition gets underway on Friday!
Also, Athlete Award recipient Harry McCartney took first place in the B Final at the U19 European Rowing Championships to finish seventh overall.
