BIG MATCH WEEKEND!!

The first team face Exmouth Albion 2nd's in a 1st vs 2nd face off in the league. Can the first team prevail and make a huge statement towards their season targets?

The second team host Topsham Town 3rd's in another tough encounter. The 2nd's never back down from a challenge and hope to continue their decent start and bounce back after their unbeaten run was ended on the road last week.

Grassroots football is very close to my heart and it’s great to see my two worlds merge together at Phoenix United Football Club! The new board looks very smart…

MEET THE PHOENIX UNITED SECOND TEAM SQUAD!!

Manager Matt Davey and Assistant Manager Rhys Kealey have now finalised their squad, and have plenty of the same and new faces to choose from.

New faces include Trevor Davis and Sam Gurney at the back, to add to what is now an even stronger back line. With Oliver now in the first team, the gloves are worn by James Elliott who impressed on his first outing with a clean sheet against Newton St Cyres. He also has Carwyn Williams for competition between the sticks. Full Backs Isaac Criddle and Kurtis Dodge will hope to continue their fantastic performances from last season, as does Eddie Budd, who was a prominent figure at Centre Back since joining in October last year. Jack Wright also returns from the big injury he suffered in August 2025.

The midfield sees many of the same names with prolific goalscorer Zac O'Loughlin now taking on the burden of captaincy. Kane and George join the club and provide competition for the likes of last season's Manger's Player of the Year Joe Lane and Most Improved Liam Rose, as well as midfield workhorse Will Hayes.

The attack is fronted by Cameron Turle and Hagan Saunders who compete for the centre forward role, while Hagan can also play on the wings.
Speaking of the wings, Danny Wright and Harvey Eastley will also look to better their goal tally from last season, scoring a combined 16 goals. Both have already got on the scoresheet this season.
Justin Lord, Tim Hartnett and Jordan Maidment also provide healthy competition as goals doesn't look to be an issue for the second team.

Many faces remain the same with Matt not needing to change too much thanks to the remarkable performance last season. A 4th place finish and a 10 game unbeaten run from April 2026 through to September 2026 sees the second team hope to push for another incredible finish.

Can the boys in blue dance with the best in the league? They certainly don't back down, that we can tell you for free.

Let's see what unfolds in this very unpredictable season ahead of us.

NINE GOAL THRILLER AT HOME!!

The first team made it difficult for themselves at times today. The lads weren’t quite up to the performances from the last 2 games but they dug deep.

The fighting spirit and the desire to keep going after Dawlish kept pe***ng us back to level the game was exceptional. The Phoenix boys kept pushing and got our reward in the last 5 mins of the game, with Curtis Viney scoring the winner.

The first's now need to focus on another tough fixture next week.

MOTM is Jude for his unbelievable work rate in the middle of the park and for scoring a screamer in the top corner and a header.

DOTD goes to Marley for trying to play a few balls down the line and slicing them into the hedge.

Great result as the first team are now three wins from three.

UNLUCKY LOSS ON THE ROAD!

Phoenix 2nd's travelled to Bow AAC in a tough encounter.
The lads started slow and Bow took advantage as they snuck a low shot into the front post, but the boys responded with heavy pressure forcing the keeper into a mistake, gifting Danny his first goal of the season.

Phoenix still couldn't get into gear and ended the first half 3-1 down, due to a long range strike that dipped over GK James and a penalty that seemed wrongly awarded as the Phoenix dugout expressed that the "foul" was committed outside the area. However, the penalty withstood and was slotted away.

Phoenix came out the better side in the second half and were awarded a penalty of their own. Danny scored it and the comeback was on.

Bow found the goal to seal it late on as yet another referee decision goes against us. Shocker 🙄

A Bow player saw red shortly after their goal for kicking out at Hagan while he (Hagan) was down on the floor. However, it is the unsavoury incident that happened shortly after that we at Phoenix United are appalled by. We do not condone this player's actions and will not discuss it further here.
Typically the ref didn't see the incident, but still sent the Bow player off for the kick.

Credit to Bow AAC as they dealt with the incident well.

Overall, pretty unlucky loss after our second half performance. Everything seemed to be against us, but Bow are still a decent side. Trev impressed on debut and earned Man of the Match at centre back, while Hagan earns Dick of the Day.
We move on and look to next week.
