BCFC 4 - 2 Halwill Football Club

Coaches comments:
Our second game of the season saw us welcome Halwill 1st to the Pavilions, and Clyst started fast with great energy and intensity. We took the lead through Harry Metherell, who broke away before calmly slotting past the keeper. Our second followed soon after, with some excellent build-up play allowing Charlie King to finish and make it 2-0.

Clyst were dominant throughout the first half, playing some really good football and creating plenty of chances. Our third and fourth goals came from two well-worked corners, with Jon Bailey scoring first with a header before adding his second with a smashing volley to make it 4-0 at half time.

We knew Halwill would come out with a response in the second half, and we needed to be ready for it. The game didn’t flow quite as easily after the break, but we still created some good chances that we couldn’t quite convert. Halwill managed to pull two goals back, but the lads held on to secure a 4-2 victory.

A brilliant result and, most importantly, our first 3 points on the board!

Coaches comments: A fantastic effort from the boys this morning. Despite the pitch not being the best we played some lovely passing football at times, moving the ball quickly and scoring some brilliant team goals as well as some individual bangers!

Broadclyst 0-1 West Exe

Coaches comments: Great to be back after a long break for us. Up against a big and physical West Exe team, we all felt hard done by with the final result - a real smash and grab header was the difference.

In the first half we played some great football, dominating lots of the possession. The second half was a little more even, with West Exe playing a very direct style but we still created lots of chances!

There’s lessons to learn in taking our chances, not turning into trouble and defending balls into our box. But overall it was a fantastic performance by the boys. If we play like that for the rest of the season we’ll have a good year 👏🏻

Lions match report

POTM 🏆Reuben Selley-Jackson

Coaches comments: Lots of lesson learned for the Lions this morning. Improvement needed on our reactions and how to work hard for one another. At times though, we played some really nice football, made some good decisions and created chances!

Overall, it was our first game together with a new squad, so there are lots of positives that we can take from the game and work on moving forward.

Coaches comments: What a performance from the Tigers this morning! 🐯 The effort, attitude, teamwork and development is so important and the boys were absolutely brilliant.

Overall, I couldn’t be more impressed with each and every one of them. They worked incredibly hard as a team, played in multiple positions, supported each other and never gave up, right until the final whistle.

They should all be incredibly proud of themselves. 🧡

Coaches comments: Possibly our toughest game of the season saw us travel to Budleigh to play brixington, a very good physical team.

We matched them in every quarter in a really competitive contest. Great character & effort was shown to not give up and keep going.
A really good game to watch and i’m 100% confident in the coming weeks these boys will get into a rhythm and challenge for top positions in the league 👏🏻

A good team performance today creating numerous chances throughout. Some excellent passing passages led to lots of attacking opportunities. Need to cut out the mistakes for 2 goals conceeded but for 40 mins we were awesome today. Fantastic start to the season with lots more to come.
