A look back at our last game of the season 👇

The first half kicked off strong with two pairs of well worked tries from scrum half and fly half duo Scarlett Davies and Liv Taylor.

Bude’s strong second half start allowed 10 points on the board but Bideford hit back harder with Chloe Roissetter hammering over the line, shortly followed by U18 debutant Lily Richter, who racked up 10 points of her own. Poppy Jennings ended the score sheet, seeing a 50-10 result for Bideford.

Thanks to Bude for travelling up and giving us a good contest as always. We hope you enjoy a well deserved summer break!

Forward of the match went to Catherine Bradborn for her hard hitting carries and dominance around the pitch.

Back of the match went to Lily Richter for slotting in to the senior team effortlessly, displaying a hard working and disciplined full back performance we’ll never forget.

We’d like to thank all of our coaching team for guiding us through a tough but incredible season. And to our ladies for a great year of commitment and development. Thank you to all of our lovely supporters who show up no matter the conditions, and our brilliant club for their continued support.

We look forward to seeing you soon for our club’s centenary season!

Bideford Ladies travelled down to Cullompton to play their penultimate game of the season, expecting another tough game against strong opposition.

Cullompton’s forward pack started well, but soon after some jackal turnovers, Bideford gained possession and made their way up the pitch. A great lineout move saw the ball go back to ho**er Hannah Daniel, who powered over the line for the first try of the day, making it 0-5.

Keeping up the tempo, Bideford continued with some strong play from the backs, resulting in Yaz King sprinting up the far side touchline to take the score to 0-10.

Cully came back into the game in the Biddy half, but after holding off their pressure, quick thinking and smart play from Adi Maisamoa saw her intercept the ball on the 22 and storm up the field to score. A smooth kick over the posts saw Adi’s final points scored in cherry and white. (We’ll miss you Adi!!! 🫡)

Following this Cully came back fighting and, after a missed tackle, found a gap in play to put points on the board.

Consistent effort from Bideford released the ball out to the backs again, where Yaz King was waiting to make a move. A quick sprint over for her second try of the game, with Liv Taylor converting, made it 5-24.

Going into the second half Cully didn’t seem to tire, with their pack putting in some strong tackles, but the Bideford forwards kept applying pressure, allowing Chloe Roissetter to dot down a try - plus a clean kick from Liv making it 5-31. Shortly after, Bideford came back down the field, with Sarah Taylor-Salkeld making a break down the wing and scoring the final try of the game right under the posts to end the scoreline 5-38 after another touch of Liv’s boot.

Thank you to Cullompton for their hospitality and incredible sportsmanship on and off the pitch 🫶

Another thank you to the amazing teams across Devon who joined us for a minutes clap in memory of Katy before kick off. If you’d like to read Katy’s story and be a part of her mission please click the link below:

Forward of the Match went to U18 debutant Ky Birchmore, who was one of the best tacklers on the pitch today, putting in some great hits and carries, showing off her vast skillset.

Back of the Match went to Poppy Jennings, who also made some crucial tackles with ease and put in some strong support runs and carries on the wing.

Shoutout also to another U18 debutant, number 9 Harriett Beaman, who stepped up and put in a great performance at scrum half for nearly 80 minutes after only joining us recently.

AWARDS NIGHT 🏅🏆

Following a successful campaign for our U18s, the Vixens celebrated their honours night with a meal and speeches to round off the season.

We’re delighted to announce this year’s award winners, presented by Chairman Matt Retter and Director of Women’s Rugby Sarah Palmer:

🏆 Most Improved Player of the Year: Emily Rice, who has developed tremendously since the start of the season, showing consistent effort and determination to improve for both herself and her team.

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Year: Ky Birchmore, who also made her senior debut this weekend, helping bring home a 5-38 victory.

🏆 Players’ Player of the Year: Lily Richter, who was also awarded a plaque in recognition of her contribution to junior rugby, having started at age 11 and now progressing to the senior squad.

The SB Panthers (a partnership between Bideford and Exeter Saracens) also lifted silverware, being crowned Devon Cup Champions after an incredible 25-22 win over Bridges in a nail biting final.

We are incredibly proud of the entire squad and are lucky to have such talent coming through the club. We wish the very best to those pursuing university, careers, or travelling, and look forward to welcoming some to our ladies team as we approach our centenary season.

In honour of Katy we will be holding a one minute applause this Sunday at our away game at Cullompton.

Cullompton Rugby Club have kindly invited all teams playing across the weekend to join in this tribute.

Before kick-off, four teams will come together on the first team pitch to celebrate Katy’s life and memory. As part of this, we will also be retiring Katy’s former playing number, 7.

Please join us in remembering Katy ❤️

Bideford Ladies endured a tough afternoon on the road as they fell to a 67-15 defeat against Paignton Ladies. Despite the scoreline, Bideford showed determination throughout, continuing to battle against a well organised and clinical home side.

Paignton applied early pressure and capitalised on their opportunities, building a strong lead with effective forward play and quick ball movement. Bideford struggled to contain the hosts’ attacking momentum but continued to work hard in both defence and attack.

Bideford’s efforts were rewarded with three well earned tries, demonstrating resilience and commitment even as the game slipped out of reach. The team maintained their spirit until the final whistle, refusing to back down despite the challenging conditions.

Forward of the Match was awarded to Chloe Roissetter for her tireless work rate, strong carries, and defensive effort throughout the game. In the backs, Olivia Taylor earned Back of the Match for her determination, composure, and attacking intent whenever opportunities arose.

While the result didn’t go their way, Bideford Ladies can take positives from their perseverance and will look to regroup and come back stronger in their next fixture.

Thanks to Paignton for their hospitality and all the best for the rest of the season!
