🏉 PRE-SEASON UPDATE | BILLINGHAM RUGBY CLUB

Following confirmation that Regional rugby and below has been delayed until the week commencing 21st September, we’ve had some fixture changes to our pre-season plans.

Our game against Guisborough RUFC will now be played at Billingham Rugby Club on our 4G pitch. 💚

Originally expected to be played at Guisborough, we’re delighted to welcome them to Billingham instead — and with the 4G pitch available, it’s a great opportunity to get some valuable game time under the belt ahead of the new season.

The delay to Regional rugby and below does not affect our National League first-team fixtures. Those fixtures remain unaffected, and we’ll continue to liaise with the National League as we have done throughout.

🏉 COMPETITIVE SEASON DELAYED UNTIL 21 SEPTEMBER

Following the latest update from the RFU, the start of the competitive community rugby season has been delayed until the week commencing Monday 21 September.

This means our 2nd XV and 3rd XV fixtures will not begin until then.

We’ll keep everyone updated regarding revised fixtures, potential pre-season friendlies and any further information as we receive more detail from the RFU.

Please note - this does not affect the First Team fixtures

We know everyone is keen to get the competitive season underway, but player welfare and pitch safety have to come first.

⚠️ IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT UPDATE

The RFU are changing how club membership and season ticket payments are collected.

If you currently pay by GMS Direct Debit, you need to switch to the new automated card payment system before 31st August 2026.

Please remember:
• This is not a scam
• Do not log into GMS
• Prices and payment dates remain the same
• Do not create a new GMS profile

🚨 Your membership must be sorted by 31st August. If it isn’t, you will not be a club member.

What do I need to do?

If you’re unsure or need to update your payment details, liaise with your Team Manager, who will arrange for you to speak with Alan Thompson to get everything sorted.

Please don’t leave it until the deadline.

The countdown to the new campaign begins with four important pre-season fixtures as preparations ramp up at Greenwood Road.

📍 18 August – Training session with our friends at West Hartlepool.

🏉 22 August – We head to Guisborough for our first pre-season fixture.

🏉 Also on 22 August, our 3rd XV travel to Houghton for their own pre-season outing.

🏠 27 August – We round off our preparations by welcoming Durham University to Greenwood Road under the lights.

We look forward to seeing plenty of green and white support as we build towards the new season.
