Kingscourt 2–4 Killylough FC

The Brave Young Hoops travelled to Kingscourt looking to get their season off to a strong start, but they were given an early reminder that there would be no easy moments in this one.

Just five minutes in, a Kingscourt winger got around the back of the Killylough defence and finished neatly into the corner to put the hosts 1–0 ahead.
Killylough responded almost immediately. On eight minutes, Sam Campbell produced some brilliant wing play, forcing his way past three Kingscourt players before squeezing the ball in at the near post to make it 1–1.

However, almost from the restart, Kingscourt played a quick ball over the top and their striker raced through to restore their lead. 2–1 after just 10 minutes.

It felt like it might be that same old feeling for the boys, but this group showed tremendous collective spirit. They rolled up their sleeves, were ready for the battle and began to take control of the game.
At the back, Emmett McKenna, up against a quality winger, soon got to grips with his man and matched him stride for stride throughout the game. Sean Connolly marshalled the defence like a pro, providing great shape and composure for the whole team.

At the other full-back position, Brody O’Neill showed tremendous bravery and confidence to continually want the ball in difficult positions. His link-up with goalkeeper Conor Tierney was excellent, with Tierney's quality distribution helping to launch countless attacks for the Brave Young Hoops.

With a disciplined performance and maturity beyond his years, captain Sean Carey mopped up another ball in midfield before releasing Sam Campbell down the left. Sam beat his man once again and delivered a quality ball into the box, where Charlie Gorman timed his run beautifully and powered home an expert header.
2–2 after 15 minutes — and we were all in for a cracking match.

Oscar McKenna and Shane Treanor provided control in midfield and linked up beautifully. Shane then produced an inch-perfect pass over the Kingscourt defence for Sam Campbell to run onto. Sam made no mistake, finishing first time to complete the turnaround.

25 minutes: Kingscourt 2–3 Killylough.
At half-time, it was a chance for the management team and the boys to take a breath, calm things down and prepare for another tough 35 minutes.
Kingscourt came out strongly after the break and put the Killylough defence under serious pressure, but the boys stood up to the test and showed excellent character.

Fresh legs were introduced, with Charlie Deery coming into midfield and Shane McKenna up front. Both made an immediate impact, giving the Young Hoops another lease of life and adding real quality to Killylough's play.
Ten minutes into the second half, Charlie Deery fed Sam Campbell on the left. Sam beat his man yet again before swinging another dangerous cross into the box. This time, Oscar McKenna was on hand to meet it with another superb header and make it 4–2.

Cathan Flynn was introduced at the back and looked assured in his tackles, while also playing some lovely passes into midfield. Zach Johnson was then brought on up front, adding another burst of energy with his strong runs and coming desperately close to getting on the end of another dangerous Killylough attack.
The final whistle confirmed a fantastic 4–2 victory for the Brave Young Hoops.

It was Killylough's day on this occasion against a very good Kingscourt side. More importantly, the performance showed the character, togetherness and footballing ability within this group.
There is plenty to be excited about, and it will be brilliant to watch these boys develop and grow over the coming weeks.

🟩⬜️ Killylough White U16s continue their good start to the season ⬜️🟩

Killylough made a very positive start to the game maintaining most of the possession for the opening 15mins

Only for the Bailieboro keeper making two good saves from Peter Callan & Adam Sherry

Killylough continued to press for the opening goal & the deadlock was finally broken when Jamie Beggan played the ball into Nathan Treanor who sharply turned side-stepped the defender & hit a fierce strike from outside the box curling the ball into the top right hand corner 1-0 25mins

Killylough continued to dominate possession but then when the ball got over turned in midfield Bailieboro on the counterattack punished the mistake scored 1-1 32mins

Killylough pushed to regain the advantage before halftime. Putting pressure on the Bailieboro defence Jack Corrigan won possession he looked up seen the keeper off the line & shot from outside the box lobbing the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net 2-1 39mins

From the start of the second half Killylough created numerous chances but were unable to make them count narrowly missing the target on a few occasions

Killylough finished the game off when Peter Callan broke through the Bailieboro defence on the right hand side crossing the ball into Adam Sherry who calmly scored 3-1 78mins

Killylough White 7–3 Carrick Rovers Navy

Killylough White continued their winning start to the new season with an entertaining 7–3 victory over Carrick Rovers Navy at St Macartans this morning.

The lads produced another strong team performance, finding the net seven times to secure another three points and keep their excellent early-season momentum going.

Killylough FC Over 35s certainly rolled back the years this weekend so much so that they decided their team photo needed to be taken with an old-school Polaroid flash camera! 📸😂

The Hoops got their Over 35 League campaign off to a winning start with an impressive 2-1 victory over a strong Cootehill Harps side at the Peace Link in Clones.

It was a competitive encounter from start to finish, with Killylough showing plenty of experience, determination and no shortage of quality to come away with all three points.

And the name on everyone's lips after the final whistle was Phillip Flack! ⭐

Phillip bagged both goals for the Hoops, making the perfect start to the season and ensuring his name will be firmly etched into the match report!

The Peace Link in Clones will host all fixtures in the Over 35 League throughout the season, and if the opening weekend is anything to go by, there should be plenty more entertaining encounters ahead.

Killylough FC u14 team secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Cootehill Harps Red at Gortakeegan in an entertaining five-goal thriller.

Cootehill opened the scoring after 17 minutes, but Killylough responded brilliantly with two quick-fire goals from Paidi McAdam.

Paidi's first came after excellent build-up play, with the forward finishing from close range to bring Killylough level.

Just minutes later, Paidi struck again from open play, completing the turnaround and putting Killylough 2–1 ahead.

With the score at 2–1, Cootehill were awarded a penalty, but Cillian Flood produced a huge save to keep Killylough in front. It was a crucial moment in the game, with Flood showing excellent composure between the posts.

Killylough's defence also had to deal with plenty of pressure in difficult conditions. On a wet and windy night, Matthew Lawrence and Michael McKenna dealt extremely well with a high ball being played into the Killylough defence, showing excellent composure and strength to deal with the aerial threat.

In midfield, Eoin Keenan and Gavin Treanor worked tirelessly throughout, battling for possession and putting in excellent shifts in challenging conditions.

Early in the second half, Killylough were awarded a penalty after Paidi rounded the Cootehill goalkeeper before being pulled back by the Cootehill centre-back.

Cillian Corrigan stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to give Killylough a 3–1 lead.

Cootehill refused to give up and pulled a goal back to make it 3–2, setting up a tense finish. Killylough showed great character and defensive resilience in the closing stages to hold on and claim all three points.

A fantastic team performance, with Flood's penalty save, Paidi's two goals and Corrigan's composed penalty proving decisive on the night.

Killylough White got their U12 season off to a fantastic winning start with an impressive 7–0 victory over Breffni FC.

The lads put in a tremendous shift from the first whistle, with the work rate, effort and teamwork on display being fantastic throughout the game.

It was a real team performance, with five different players getting on the scoresheet, highlighting the attacking threat across the team. At the other end, the lads worked hard to secure a well-deserved clean sheet.

A brilliant way to begin the new season! 👏⚽

Killylough White got their new season off to a winning start with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Cavan Shamrocks.

Cavan started the match strongly, enjoying plenty of possession during the opening 10 minutes and putting our defence under significant pressure. The lads gradually settled into the game and began to find their rhythm.

⚽️ 20’ – 1-0 Killylough

After some excellent build-up play, Nathan played a perfectly weighted through ball for captain Adam Sherry, who timed his run brilliantly before firing into the bottom-left corner to give Killylough the lead.

The game remained end-to-end, with both teams creating chances.

⚽️ 33’ – 2-0 Killylough

A dangerous ball was delivered into the Cavan box and Peter McCarra made no mistake, striking the ball cleanly into the back of the net to double Killylough’s advantage.

Just before half-time, Nathan played another superb ball through to Adam, who came agonisingly close to adding a third, seeing his effort crash off the top-right corner of the crossbar.

Cavan came out with high intensity after the break as they looked to get back into the game. Our defence and midfield worked tirelessly to absorb the pressure and keep Cavan at bay.

Cavan's pressure eventually paid off when a cross into the box fell kindly to a Cavan player, who made no mistake with the finish to reduce the deficit.

The match continued at a high pace for the remainder of the game, with both sides going close.

Cavan came closest to an equaliser in the closing minutes when they struck the crossbar, but Killylough held firm to secure all three points.

U14 GIRLS CLAIM AWAY VICTORY! 💚🩷

A cold and damp evening in Bailieboro provided the setting for Wednesday night’s U14 girls’ fixture, but the weather did little to dampen Killylough’s enthusiasm as the girls started with a high press and plenty of energy.

From the opening whistle, Killylough made it difficult for Bailieboro to play out from the back, applying constant pressure and forcing mistakes. Their efforts were rewarded when Anna McDonald found the back of the net to give Killylough an early lead.

The momentum continued, with Ailbhe Gallagher getting on the scoresheet twice in quick succession. An own goal from a Bailieboro defender added to Killylough’s advantage, putting the visitors firmly in control.

Caoimhe McPhilips then stepped up with a superb long-range effort. Her willingness to shoot from distance paid off, with the strike finding the back of the net.

The girls continued to press high and work hard for each other, and their persistence was rewarded again when Ellie Mullarkey got herself on the scoresheet following some excellent positional play.

Elsie Beggan was unlucky not to add her name to the scoresheet, while our usual danger girl, Aoife McKenna, also came close on several occasions.

At the back, Killylough’s defence remained strong throughout the game. Holly Treanor and Khloe Higgins were particularly impressive, making powerful runs deep into midfield and helping to create further opportunities for their teammates.

New signing Ellen Treanor produced an excellent performance on her Killylough debut, capping off a memorable evening by scoring two goals. 👏⚽

It was a fantastic all-round team performance, with every player contributing to an impressive away victory.

The girls can be delighted to come away from Bailieboro with all three points and plenty of confidence heading into Saturday’s tougher test.
