Good morning all! I have a REALLY good excuse for no video this week!

I had the genuine pleasure of coaching the next generation of anglers at this years Angling Trust Junior Talent Pathway. This is a 2 day event with day 1 being "classroom" based covering everything from rig making to bait presentation and peg setup. We had some great fun doing some skill based games, too, with all the coaches and volunteers having a go, and mostly getting beaten by the kids! Day 2 was putting all those skills into practice on Milford shingle bank with a 4 hour fishing session. Some lovely fish being caught, mostly bream with the odd bass and even a beautiful red mullet!

I would like to thank everyone who attended and made the weekend such a great experience for all involved, from the anglers to the parents and of course all the volunteers who took time out of their own lives to help out. I was going to list you all, but the fear of missing someone off the list is too much! You know who you are, thank you. A massive well done to Steve Rathbone who organised and headed up the weekend, a tremendous effort from a really wonderful guy.

From a personal point of view, I get so much enjoyment from putting back into a sport that gives me so much. Being able to help others enjoy the sport as much as I do is a wonderful thing to be able to do.

As for the young anglers, you were all absolutely amazing! Your attitude, effort and enjoyment of the weekend made our jobs so much easier. So thank you and well done. I look forward to watching you all progress over the years.

I've neglected the gilts so far this year, having said I was going to put some time and effort into them! I was blessed with this beauty from Poole Harbour this week, though. A quick couple of hours after work with John Kovacs, fishing one rod, one rig (an urfe, obviously!), one hook (4/0 Sasame Chinu) and one bait (large ragworm) was all that was needed. I really do enjoy fishing as simply as I can. No need for lots of different rigs and baits when you only have a couple of hours. John had a beautiful big black bream, but sadly his first gilt still alludes him, it won't be long, I'm sure.

That's a nice start to the day! Christchurch Ledge on a simple soft plastic worked slow and low. Sadly nothing on the surface to appease my top water addiction! Beggars can't be choosers, though!

Well, you guys are in for a right royal treat tonight! Not one, but TWO videos of me to watch!
First up I have my latest challenge video which has just landed over on my channel. Then we also have a little something different! The lovely guys, namely Mr Jansen Teakle, from Tide Together Community Group decided they wanted to film me waffling on about all sorts of, well, me stuff really! So make sure you look out for that video too! Jansen makes a far better video than I do, and somehow managed to make me sound almost interesting! 🤣
