What a wonderful end of term, we’ve handed out over 160 achievement awards this week to our fabulous swimmers. I’ve received some wonderful pressies too which are very much appreciated 🥰

Former Batley Bulldogs rugby league star Simon Wilson is preparing to lace up his boots for an extraordinary stadium challenge to to help his daughter through cancer treatment🥺🙏.

Chloe, a devoted mum-of-two from Bradford has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma after repeatedly been misdiagnosed with costochondritis.

Doctors finally uncovered the aggressive form of blood cancer. Her condition has now escalated, requiring intensive chemotherapy, leaving her unable to work for up to a year.

Her father, former Batley Bulldogs player Simon Wilson, is preparing to take on a remarkable fundraising challenge on 19 July, designed to reflect every milestone of his rugby league career.

The challenge will see him complete 315 laps of the stadium, 92 full pitch runs for his tries, 199 conversions, and finish with 25 drop goals, with former teammates and supporters joining him throughout the day🏉.

A GoFundMe page set up by the family explains the reality Chloe is now facing as she begins treatment while caring for two very young children.

It reads: “Chloe has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is now facing an aggressive course of chemotherapy treatment. Since November, she had repeatedly been misdiagnosed with costochondritis before finally receiving the devastating diagnosis.

“Chloe is a loving single mum to two young children, both under the age of three. As she begins treatment, she is expected to be unable to work for between 6 and 12 months, placing significant financial pressure on her and her family at a time when they should be focused solely on her recovery.”

The fundraiser is aiming to ease that pressure by covering essentials including household bills, food, childcare costs and specialist items such as a wig, which Chloe will need due to chemotherapy related hair loss.
