Bridgend Roller Derby

Give it up for our Development skaters! 👏🏻👏🏻

They all worked really hard over the course of a few months and have shown so much improvement. They learned derby skills AND all about the other roles needed to make our sport happen. There were a few faces missed at the last session, and we’re hoping to see them again.

Some wonderful friendships began on this track. We’re excited to see what else they can do.

Huge thanks to Guest Coach Tai Cheetah of Wales Roller Derby Cymru and DORSET ROLLER DERBY for making the trek over to our training tonight.

We all had a blast, and had to encourage people to actually leave the hall at the end.

There a few camera shy BRD missing from the pic, but you’ll also notice some of our friends from South Wales Silures Roller Derby joined us for all the Derby fun.

Thanks to all for making this happen.

While we’re thanking our crew for supporting us in North Wales, it's only fair we give our LOUD 📣 supporters a shout out too! We had several family members that made the 270 mile round trip🚗, complete with banners, and brought ALL the BRD energy!

But a special shout out goes to our newest #1 fan, Theo. Not only was this Theo's first time at a roller derby game, but also the first time he and colleague Moll had met face to face. He had swotted up on derby101 rules and said he loved every minute of brutal action 🛼.

Big love 💙 for our BRD supporters!

So it’s been over a week since our game with North Wales and some of us might still be in recovery. 😆

We are so grateful to Destroy’her for making a brief come back to help us out as top Jam Timer and Ref-y-Rhi (aka Jane Doe) for wearing those stripes for us yet again. 🖤

Thank you. We appreciate you!

Quick shout out to Ewok E Horror who joined them for a quick pic at half time.

What a dream team for our game against North Wales Roller Derby 🥁🥁🥁

Alida aka Hyena Havoc 210 LUM
Carys BENCH

A calm LUM and focused bench make it SOOOOOO much easier for skaters to focus, and we're so lucky these beauts would travel LITERALLY to the other end of the country to support us. 💖

Alida had never been LUM before and made it look like a piece of cake, she even came raving later! LEGEND!

Our development skaters has a visit from guests Dave & Nina this week.

They had more insight into roles other than skating, this time specifically bench management. (Bench, shadow, liason, stats)

Dave shared his experience of how he transitioned from a skater into these extremely valuable roles that we just couldn’t be without.

He also shared his love for tech and how that developed into him starting quadstreamlive - filming and broadcasting roller derby.

Check him out, follow this link:

We also learned that there’s very little chance of him returning on skates since Nina has dismantled his kit and ‘adopted’ all the good parts. Well played Nina, well played.

Thanks to both. We appreciate you!

What a blast!! Thankyou so much Bath Roller Derby for hosting such a fantastic event and raising money for end of life care ❤️

We had BRD in the crowd and on the track with Dolly Rocket skating game 1 plus Moll and Blue Exorcist skating in game 2

Whist we may not have known Amy personally it was beautiful to see the work and effort done to honour the memory of a fellow skater

Thankyou.
