WE’RE BACK AGAIN

“Like last year, the Rottingdean Windmill Warriors have signed up to the SquareOne indoor autumn league, which we kicked off tonight against Lewes Lightning.
But this year something is different - RCC girls who are Year 7 or older have been invited to play with the ladies.

We rotate the squad so everyone gets games - today E Heath and M Ledden joined Katharine, Elliot, Maz and Dom in a tricky match against a very experienced Lewes side. There were so many positives and what a fantastic team effort! E Heath and M Ledden both took wickets in their first overs, Katharine and Elliot batted excellently together racking up a good total for their ‘skin’, Maz’s bowling was on point and Dom (missing from the photo) fielded solidly and stumped a player out as stand in wickie while Katharine was bowling.
Whilst we didn’t win today, great cricket was played and lots of fun had by all. 6 more matches to play before Christmas. Bring it on!!!”

ONE MORE TIME

The majority of clubs in England have finished for the season but not us! We’re going one last time this year against the Deal Victoria & Barns Close Touring Team.

Here’s the team, come down and support!

Huge Congratulations to I Dye on making her well deserved 2nd XI debut on Saturday! Not only she did make her debut but she also took a wicket! Bringing her tally up to 22 this season!

The last female player to make an appearance for our 2nd XI was 15 years ago! She went on to play for Oxfordshire! We have no doubt that I Dye will go on to do achieve similar feats!

Congrats on another successful season I Dye, the future is bright! 🟡⚫️🟡

For the final team this season, here are the results this Saturday

1️⃣The 1s finish their season with a tight game away to Lindfield. Stand out performances were Mustaq with 51 and 2 - 23 from his 9 overs. Also star opening bowling Robbie Stoner picks up a hattrick. Also good to see Ben Dye in the runs with 37.
2️⃣The 2s finish a successful campaign against league winners Barcombe. Captain Phil Robson leads from the front 32 and a wicket. Wicket as well for I Dye more on her achievements later this week…
3️⃣Finally the 3s have done it!!! Their must win game against Henfield results in a resounding victory which secures their place in Division 11 next season. Huge efforts with the bat from Alfie, Rory and Kim. But the bowling is arguably even better. Tom Godfrey (sponsored by Harvey's Brewery ) takes 5 - 5 at a 0.56 economy. While Father Lorne follows up with 3-3. Both James and MD also bowled very well.

League results to follow soon.

Thank you to everyone represented RCC and helped out around the club this season. Roll on 2027🟡⚫️🟡

Congratulations to Sean-Michael Campleman on making 50 appearances for our 1st XI

Sean is our Director of Cricket so he supports the development of the youth around the club, this is an extremely important role considering the ethos at RCC

He has really shown his class this year scoring 436 runs and taking 11 wickets!

Roll on next season!

For the last time this season… HERE WE GO

Only 3 teams this Saturday with the 4s finishing for the season with a rained off game last week ☔️

1️⃣The 1s travel to Lindfield, we welcome back Director of Cricket Sean after a few weeks in South Africa 🇿🇦
2️⃣The 2s host Barcombe at the Dean. After a Jeffrey Father Son duo masterclass last week they look to do the same again for the 2s. We also welcome back fan favourite Jim Deverall
3️⃣The 3s have a must win relegation scrap against Henfield. Cricket is rarely simple but on this occasion the winner stays up and the loser goes down there’s no other outcomes. We welcome back N Kwong after a few weeks away!

Great to have each team propped up by a Dye this week! Good luck all teams!

No games yesterday gives us a chance to highlight our Players of the Match from last week!

1️⃣Peter Bonar (sponsored by Bullistic Cricket) strikes again with another POTM performance. Taking wickets and a catch as well as some runs
2️⃣The Rain yesterday statically secured the 2s place in Div 6 again next season. Last week’s 10 wicket win could have seen multiple POTM performances including Jonjo 75*, Josh Woolcott 53*, James Withey 3-36 and C Caridia 2 - 20 off 8 overs. But E Tarrant’s bowling was the highlight of the day bowling 8 overs 2 maidens 4-21!
3️⃣The 3s had a tough day out but Kim’s quick 28 helped us get up to a respectable score
4️⃣Performances of the week goes to B Jeffrey and Y Pattenden both playing alongside proud fathers watching on. Ben, who batting alongside his father Andy got to 85* including 16 4s matching patience with aggression at the right times to play a composed and dominating knock. The father son duo put on a 50 partnership as well! While Y Pattenden dominated the bowling innings with the most impressive figures we’ve seen at Rottingdean this season! 5.1 overs 3 maidens 4 wickets for just 6 runs at an economy of just 1.16!!! It’s been fantastic to see how well Y Pattenden and all of the Windmill Warriors have done this season and wonderful to see this hard work at play on a Saturday as well.

It’s also great to see 3 juniors in the POTM awards this week! We now look towards next week the final game of the season!
