The top 10 runs scorers went down so well I thought we could have a look at the wickets as well. Our very own George Ledden leads the board with 5th team stonewall Jonny Lawes bringing up the rear in third. Please note these stats are only based off games on play cricket

We may have had no cricket yesterday but the cricket for the weekend is far from over! Our Women’s team welcome Burgess Hill which is underway now at the dean. We then have an under 11s game against St Peter’s from 12. Culminating in a Smugglers match against a new side Shoreham by Sea. Bar will be open for all games. No games went ahead yesterday, which gives the chance to highlight the games from last week! The 30th of May saw 3 wins across the 4 games. Some top batting performances from Jonjo, L Cox, A Caridia and Alfie. With good bowling performances in all games with A Caridia taking the cake with 4 - 40 to compliment his batting innings.

Congratulations to the three players voted as MOTM/WOTM from the 3 wins from last Saturday! Each performance had its own flare but they were all crucial to victory for their respective teams!

6 games over the last two days! The 1st XI had a tough Saturday followed by a tough Sunday with a loss in the National Village Cup. But everyone seemed in high spirits getting to go to the pub earlier. A great win for the 2s with runs all round from Josh, Jonjo and C Caridia. With some great figures 4 - 18 from Abhi. The 3s also had a great Saturday with a 171 victory over Newhaven with runs from James and V Wilson-Hodges. As well as fantastic bowling from all 4 bowler who picked up at least 2 a piece. T Newham done the hill at St James was a personal favourite. The 4s had the game of the weekend though with a nail bitter going down to the last few overs. Great innings from skipper Derren and a 75 from Kim set up a good score. But the death bowling from I Dye taking an incredible 4 - 17 was the game winning performance. The 5ths were unfortunately subject to a ton from D Hansen which ruined the game for us. Ending on an unfortunate note Crowhurst Park had a very strong team in the national village cup round 3. We go again next weekend!

A glowing win for the softball ladies on Sunday! Here are a few words from Caroline: “Today the women’s softball team played their first league game of the season, hosting the lovely Brighton Blasters (Brighton Malayalee) at the Pringle. It was a scorching hot morning and to say the RCC ladies were ‘glowing’ in their polyester tops before the game had even started, is an understatement.
SJ took on skippering duties enabled by Sarah occupying her children playing cricket and making daisy chains, as Caroline turned her hand to umpiring. Batting first the runs ticked up, with most good balls resulting in runs. It is not unusual for someone to ask when the 4 over stint is going to end, but normally the final ball comes with sadness not relief, such was the level of heat fatigue being felt today. Setting a solid total of 301, the ladies welcomed a decent water break to hydrate before facing an hour in the field.
The ladies bowled 2 overs each and solid bowling was displayed by all, giving away few extras, with Elliot taking 2 wickets and Sophia the closest to a maiden over (just a single no ball got in the way). Bodil took an excellent low catch at square leg.
It was a comfortable win for the Rottingdean ladies beating the Blasters 301 to 252 and lots of fun was had by all. Match will go on Play Cricket once the opposition team’s full names have been provided.
Thanks to Alex and Paul for their help and great to have Maz and Vic supporting.”

PLAYER PROFILE - Dan Brewer. One club man often describes himself as that guy. 3rd highest score in RCC recorded history. Golfing ability severely.
Congrats to Vinnie who put in a flawless 69* for the 3rd XI yesterday. I say flawless we did managed to catch the only bit on camera that was slightly neck hair raising. Some great shots that nearly matched James Yates score putting on a 98 partnership together! Sadly he was deemed too good to bowl on the day so may fall short of MOTM. Congrats again!
