Yesterday we held our first ever OMA Summer Swim Challenge with our friends at West Country Water Park ๐ŸŒŠ

It wasnโ€™t about racing or finishing first.

It was about setting a personal goal, spending time in nature, and sharing the experience with others.

Some people swam 1km. Others took on 2km.

Every swimmer was met with encouragement, applause and plenty of smiles at the finish.

Days like this remind us what blue spaces can offer. They give us room to challenge ourselves, connect with others and leave feeling a little lighter than when we arrived.

A huge thank you to everyone who swam, volunteered, supported from the shore, and to the brilliant team at West Country Water Park for hosting us.

We couldnโ€™t have asked for a better first Summer Swim Challenge.

Hereโ€™s to many more ๐Ÿ’™

Today we had the pleasure of supporting Jack Marshall on an open water swim. Jack was born blind but that certainly hasnโ€™t affected his sense of adventure and he embraced open water swimming in Bristol harbour like a pro. He has spent the last few days learning to sail with All Aboard and finished the experience off with a refreshing dip.

It was great to see him experience swimming up and down the river supported by coach Maggy, VICTA UK and All-Aboard Watersports

Supporting people to access open water swimming is our absolute favourite thing to do. Jack was keen to share this post to inspire other visually impaired young adults to give outdoor swimming a go.

Nice one Jack - see you in the water again soon.

Have a great Sunday whatever youโ€™re doing and hope it involves some water ๐Ÿ’™

This Drowning Prevention Week, weโ€™re sharing the Float to Live message โ€“ a simple skill that could save your life if you find yourself struggling in the water.

๐Ÿ’™ Float on your back
๐Ÿ’™ Submerge your ears
๐Ÿ’™ Scull with your hands
๐Ÿ’™ Bend your legs to help you float
๐Ÿ’™ Call for help - raising an arm

As the weather warms up and more people head to the water, letโ€™s help each other stay safe and enjoy blue spaces with confidence.

Save this post & share it with your friends and family to remind them to keep safe whilst enjoying the water.
