Marcus’s S Works Tarmac SL7
Hard to believe I built this in 2020! It’s certainly been through a few changes over the years! But still looks and rides as fast as ever!

From professional to home bike mechanics we’ve all seen at least a few of Calvin Jones aka “Mr Park tool”s videos over the years!
Probably the world’s most famous bike mechanic and a regular at the Madison Ice Bike shows he always had time for a chat!
Sad to see you go Calvin but hope you enjoy a well deserved retirement!

David wanted something unique for his build and with this amazing paint job you are never going to see another bike like it!
The Tarmac SL8 SWorks frameset was Custom painted at using a dipped effect.
Built up with a full Dura-Ace R9200 12-speed groupset and SES 4.5 Wheelset I think you’ll agree its a bit special!

I’ve built a few Mason’s up for Karl, he’s a bit of a fan you could say! This is his new Bokeh 3 and the “Filter Yellow” is my favourite colour so far! It’s built up with a full 12 speed GRX 825 1 x Groupset, .beyond 35 Carbon Gravel Wheelset, Panaracer Gravel King tyres, Ritchey Bars & Stem, and a BB and Headset! The Diamond front rack was a neat finishing touch and a great quality strong mounting for a variety of bags and lights. You’re not going to miss this one out on the trails! bikeshop

Luke always brings me some cool fixed wheel builds and I have worked on many for him over the years. From custom painted projects, to Cinelli Mash and always finished with an exquisite selection of components! So no surprise this new build was going to be special! Starting with some hand built hubs laced onto rims, Headset, Super rare Omnium Cranks with an NJS .jp Chainring, 65 seat post and finished off with another rare item the Mash Stem!

Having started my journey with bikes in 1989 its always great to see some classic 90’s MTBs through the workshop!
The 90’s were a crazy time for the cycling world with so many new technologies becoming mainstream. The first indexed gear systems and the battle between Shimano & Suntour for supremacy! Hardtail bikes moving across to front and then rear suspension, cool paint jobs, fluro and anodized colours everywhere, and the beginning of the weight we**ie obsession with ever more super light weight titanium, alloy and carbon retro fitted parts!
A selection of photos of some of the amazing retro MTBs I am lucky enough to get to work on from some of my customers collections including the amazing bikes from
Happy memories!

Will booked in for some upgrades to his Kanzo Adventure gravel bike. He loved the bike but wasn’t digging the Sram Apex groupset. So we quickly solved that with a full strip and rebuild with GRX 810!

Farooq wanted a super light stealth machine and ticked all the boxes with this build! Starting with a Supersix Black Inc frame & forks with an ultralight 11 speed Red mechanical groupset it was off to a great start! A pair of Dura-Ace C24 carbon laminated wheels, carbon bars, seat post and a stem finished the parts list. With a later upgrade to a pair of Zipp 202 Carbon wheels and a short cage rear mech he has now got the bike down to 6.46kg!

Zahir always brings in the coolest builds! His unique eye for colours, parts modern or retro and a serious attention to detail are always a pleasure to work on! This awesome Bassi Hog’s Back came in with a mix of old and new parts. 8 speed NOS Deore XT mechs, running indexed on the rear and a friction down tube Dia Comp lever for the 2x Middleburn chainset up front. Finished off with a Chris King Headset, Nitto bar and stem and a Brooks saddle.

Freshly custom painted in deep metallic green Max brought in his CAAD13 Disc Frameset ready for the build.
Based on a 105 R7020 groupset, some Pro 5 Hubs built up on 40mm carbon rims, BB30A bottom bracket, and finished off with bars and stem.
And for those wetter days we fitted a pair of gorgeous carbon fibre mudguards! A lot of custom fabrication went into getting the guards fitted perfectly, I’ll do a full post on that soon!

It had been a crazy few months in the workshop getting bikes built for all the big summer ultra events, I was considering what bike to ride myself for the 2023 Paris-Brest-Paris 1200km and realised I had used a different bike on all three of the previous editions of the event. Seemed the ideal excuse to build something a bit different for this year!
In a pile of rusty bikes at a rubbish tip in Ilfracombe I spotted something a bit special, clearly a 531c frame & forks but no manufacturer’s stickers. I gladly paid the £4 the tip we’re selling the bike for and took it home to investigate further. From frame numbers and a bit of digging it turned out to be a 1985 Raleigh Competition. Many of the parts were too far gone to use or not original so it’s taken a while to track down everything needed to restore it to 1985 spec. In fact I finished it with a day to go before I left for Paris!! But a 45km shakedown ride later and I’m pleased to say it was running like a dream! The 13-21 rear was perfect for the terrain and I went on to finish in my fastest time!
