Celtic Match Races 2026 – Scotland Race Report

Unfortunately, 2026 was not Scotland's year at the Celtic Match Races.

The team arrived ready to take on a new circuit, with everyone enjoying the challenge of learning a fresh track. Combined with an incredible atmosphere throughout the weekend, the event was a fantastic experience both on and off the circuit.

Saturday welcomed the Scottish team with sunshine, a fantastic atmosphere, and the exciting challenge of learning a brand-new circuit. As the day progressed, riders settled in, found their rhythm, and gained confidence on the track while taking on strong competition from across the Celtic nations.

A strong opening day filled with determination, teamwork, and plenty to build on.

Sunday's racing, however, was heavily affected by the weather. Standing water on the track delayed the start of racing, and as conditions changed, high winds became another major factor. With many members of the Scottish team also committed to the Scottish Championship next weekend, the team came together to discuss the situation and made the difficult decision to withdraw from the remainder of the Celtic Match Races.

Special thanks to Bobby McMullen for generously lending his bike to Johnny Stewart. Your support and sportsmanship were greatly appreciated.

We’re also proud to celebrate Scotland’s own Bryony Smart, who made history as the only female rider competing in the 2026 Celtic Match Races. A fantastic achievement and a great representation for Scottish Motorcycle Racing

A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this amazing event possible, from the organisers and officials to the volunteers and supporters who created such a memorable weekend.

Until next year ⚔️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Team,

Before we head over to the Isle of Man, I just want to say a few words.

The Celtic Match Races are special because the venue rotates every year, giving each home nation the opportunity to host and compete on home soil.

Last year, that honour belonged to Scotland.

In front of our own people, we achieved what we set out to do.

We became Celtic Match Race Champions.

That was a special moment, and something every one of us should be incredibly proud of.

But this year, the event moves on.

It’s now the Isle of Man’s turn to host, so we’re crossing the water and going into somebody else’s backyard.

And we’re not travelling there hoping to win something.

We’re travelling there as the defending champions.

That brings pressure, but it’s the kind of pressure we’ve earned.

Every other team knows who holds the title. They’ll be determined to take it from us, and we should expect nothing less.

But they should also know something about this Scottish team:

We won’t give it up easily.

Last year’s victory wasn’t down to one rider, one race or one result. It came from everyone doing their job, supporting one another and fighting for every single point.

That’s what being a team is about.

So when you pull that helmet on and go to the start line on the Isle of Man, remember what you’re representing.

You’re representing Scotland.

You’re representing your teammates, your families, your mechanics, your sponsors and everyone who has helped get us there.

Most importantly, you’re riding for the people standing alongside you, wearing that same Scottish badge.

There will be good races. There will be difficult races. Things won’t always go our way.

When that happens, we pick ourselves up and go again.

Every race matters. Every position matters. Every point matters.

Respect the opposition. Race hard. Race smart. Look after one another and give absolutely everything you’ve got.

Last year, we proved that Scotland could win the Celtic Match Races at home.

This year, we have the opportunity to do something different:

To take that title away from home, defend it on Manx soil and bring it back to Scotland.

We’re leaving Scotland with that title.

And when that ferry brings us back across the water, I want us standing together, knowing that every one of us gave everything we had to bring it home again.

We go to the Isle of Man with pride.

We go there together.

And we go there as Celtic Match Race champions.

The venue might change every year. Let’s make sure the winners don’t.

Come on, Scotland!

We are incredibly proud to have been chosen as your Scottish team managers, and it is a privilege to stand alongside this team.

Following the successful return of the Celtic Match Races in 2025, we are delighted to announce Team Scotland for the 2026 Celtic Match Races, as we return as defending champions.

After a 15-year absence, the Celtic Match Races made their long-awaited return to East Fortune in 2025, hosted by Melville Motor Club. Following an exciting and highly competitive weekend of racing, Team Scotland claimed victory, raising the Sword of State on home soil.

This year, the Celtic Match Races will be hosted by Andreas Racing Association at Jurby, Isle of Man, on 26th and 27th September 2026.

Following an unforgettable weekend of racing in 2025, Team Scotland are now looking forward to travelling to the Isle of Man to defend their title. With the Sword firmly in our sights once again, the team will be aiming to deliver another outstanding performance and return home as Celtic Match Race champions for a second year.

We are proud to present Team Scotland for the 2026 Celtic Match Races and wish the entire team the very best of luck as they take on the challenge of defending the title.
