We help people get fit, beat personal best times and make new friends for life. Come and try us out We now offer walking group sessions too!

Cheltenham Running Club was founded in response to increasing demand for running groups which educate, support and inspire their members. We set up a progressive programme which takes members from one pace group to the next every 13 weeks. Our Beginners groups have been extremely popular due to the emphasis on correct pacing and having a couch to 5k plan catering to those who have been unable to j

14 days to go until our CRWC team takes on Run2Paris.

In just two weeks, 20 of our members will head to London to begin one of the biggest adventures we've ever taken on as a club.

Run2Paris is not just about running.

It's about teamwork, planning, encouragement, problem-solving and digging deep for each other over four incredible days.

We'll have 4 teams of 5, with each team managing transitions, navigation, timing, support stops and the long road all the way to Paris.

Some members may even take on two legs in a day if they're feeling strong enough.

This is the sort of event that creates stories people remember for years.

We've already reached our fundraising target and raised over £8,000 for Parkinson's UK and Regain Sports Charity, which is amazing.

If you'd still like to support the team and contribute to the fundraiser, you can do so here:

Thank you to everyone cheering them on already.

There are now 4 weeks to go until our next beginners intake starts on 11 May.

This is for people who want support getting from run-walk intervals to their first proper non-stop 5K.

You do not need to be fit already.

You do not need to know how to pace yourself.

And you do not need to feel confident yet.

That is exactly what the programme is there to help with.

One of the two charities we are proud to support through Run2Paris is Parkinson's UK.

Parkinson's UK supports people and families affected by Parkinson's across the UK.

That means funding vital research, providing information and support, and helping people feel less alone as they face the realities of a life-changing condition.

Our Run2Paris challenge is about more than getting from London to Paris.

It's about putting our miles towards something that genuinely matters.

We've already raised over £8,000, which is fantastic, but every extra donation helps us create even more impact.

If you'd like to support our team and the work of Parkinson's UK, you can donate here:

What a night in Bishop’s Cleeve 🙌

Our Couch to 5K runners absolutely smashed their first non-stop 5K tonight.

10 weeks ago, many of them started with just 1-minute jogs…
And this evening, they ran for 45 minutes non-stop.

That’s what consistent, structured progress looks like 👏

Next week, they’ll move into our steadier non-stop running groups, continuing to build confidence and distance…
And we’ll be opening the door for our next beginners intake starting 9th May.

If you know someone who’s been thinking about getting started, this is exactly where it begins:
Support from others at the same stage
Guidance from a coach
And a structured, achievable programme that actually works

Comment Beginner and I’ll send the details 👍

This week, our current Couch to 5K runners reach week 10.

That means their first 45-minute non-stop jog.

For every member of the group, that will mean at least 5K.

It is a huge milestone.

And it’s also a reminder that beginners are capable of far more than they often think at the start.

With the right build-up, the right pacing and the right support, things that once felt out of reach start to feel normal.

One of the most encouraging things about a proper beginners programme is that it gives people time.

Time to build fitness.

Time to learn pacing.

And time to get to know each other.

Eibhlish said that those early walking breaks were actually part of what made the programme so special, because they gave people time to chat, catch their breath and hear each other’s stories.

That is a big part of why friendships form so naturally.

People stop showing up only for themselves.

They start showing up for the group too.

If that sounds like the kind of support you’d love, comment Beginner.

One of the biggest differences between trying to get back into running on your own and doing it with a group is this:

You don’t have to rely on motivation alone.

You’ve got structure.

You’ve got people expecting to see you.

And you’ve got others going through the same journey at the same time.

As Matt put it, “The camaraderie is great.”

That really matters on the days when you’d otherwise talk yourself out of it.

Our current Couch to 5K group are now in week 7 of the programme.

That means they are well beyond those very early run-walk sessions and getting closer to their first 45-minute non-stop jog.

It’s always brilliant to see this point in the journey.

People who arrived unsure of themselves are now running for much longer.

People who once worried whether they could do it are now proving to themselves that they can.

That is what a good beginner programme does.

It helps you bridge the gap between walking and running in a way that feels realistic.

What a brilliant day at the Gloucester 10K and Half Marathon yesterday 🌟

Cheltenham Running Club had another fantastic turnout, and it was great to see so many of our members achieving either a personal best or their first ever finish at that race distance.

With calm, cool conditions, bright sunshine and a flat route, it was the perfect stage for so many strong performances after months of consistent winter training.

But more than that, it was another reminder of how special it is to be part of a club where people train together, encourage one another and then turn up on race day ready to cheer each other on.

We’re now looking ahead to the Tewkesbury Half Marathon in April and the Cirencester Summer Sizzler 10K in June, with more great days to aim for together.

Comment with the word "trial" if you’d like to experience race days with the support, structure and community of a club that trains together week in, week out.
