The successes just keep flowing during 2026.
⛳️ Charlie Burnham and Eva Myers both produced superb performances to emerge respectively as Derbyshire Boys’ and Girls’ Champions at Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club.
Charlie played some stunning golf to win by six shots with two gross 74s. Benjamin Wharton continued his fine form of this season, finishing in a very creditable fourth place.
In the Girls' Championship, Eva Myers was crowned the 36-hole Derbyshire Girls Champion after returning a winning total of 159, beating her nearest opponent by two strokes to double up on her Derbyshire Ladies' Championship, which she won at Chevin earlier in the season.
⛳️ It's proving to be quite a season at county level, with Alison Watson winning best nett in the Derbyshire Senior Ladies’ Championship, pipping Sue Drake and Carol Gladwin to take the crown.
⛳️ Meanwhile, our own Barbara Sims captained a team of Derbyshire ladies past captains which travelled to Beedles Lake in Leicestershire to compete in the Inter County Shield match against Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. A match which has been happening for the last four years, it is hosted by the three counties in rotation.
Derbyshire were victorious for the third year in a row with no fewer than five CGC representatives in the team – with Joan Bywater, Marie Watson, Sue Drake, and Carol Gladwin joining Barbara.
Well played to all. 👏

Our very own Sam Barker-Sabido is playing a key role during this week’s AIG Women’s Open.
CGC member Sam, who works as Rules of Golf Manager at England Golf, has been invited by the R&A to officiate at the event, which started at Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club yesterday and runs until Sunday.
Sam will be working as a member of a team of referees from across the globe.
During the first two days he’s covering a segment of the course. Then on each of Saturday and Sunday he’ll be assigned a match to referee as the world’s top players battle for the coveted title after making the cut.
What an incredible achievement for Sam and a great honour for our club to have him as a member. Great work Sam, a proud achievement for yourself and your family, who are such a valued part of our club.

What a week of club celebrations we are enjoying. ⛳️ ☀️
Yesterday it was a day for our President Bill Preston to lead the parade.
An 18-hole shotgun start for the President’s Challenge Trophy, where a President’s team played a Vice-Captain’s team.
The winners? There’s a reason President Bill has a smile on his face 😊
Food and clubhouse celebrations followed. Well played Team CGC for another fabulous day during a long, hot week of celebration 🔥

What a stunner as we hosted the inaugural Global Brands Group Golf Day in conjunction with our friends and sponsors. A fun-filled day on the course and in the clubhouse, bursting at the seams with iconic brands, and many of the guests enjoying a celebratory barbecue before staying at Global’s sister hotels Peak Edge Hotel and Red Lion Restaurant and Casa Hotel. ⛳️ ☀️

A very proud club moment…
The impressive achievements of our rising star Eva Myers have reached another key milestone – with the award of a scholarship at a leading American golf college.
Eva, 17, will head to the University of North Carolina Asheville in August 2027 on a five-year programme. The placement will see Eva study sport management as her major, combined with specialist training in sports marketing, event logistics and facility management.
She’ll represent the UNC’s golf team ‘known as the Bulldogs’ - with fixtures to be played as far afield as Colorado, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
The placement is fully funded – showing UNC’s recognition of Eva’s spectacular success across the last few years. She currently plays off a handicap index of -1.5 and is a member of England Golf’s East Midlands Regional Squad.
Her successes include: becoming England Schools Golf Champion in 2024, winning the British Junior Championship 2026, three-times being crowned Derbyshire Under 18s champion, two-times winning the Derbyshire Ladies Amateur Championship, and picking up further world ranking points by winning a coveted Bronte Law series event earlier this year.
Well done, Eva. Your fellow members are extremely proud of you.

Deal done 🤝
We’re delighted to have signed a new sponsorship agreement to partner with Global Brands, Casa Hotel and Peak Edge Hotel.
The arrangement provides new signage around the course including new first tee boards which will be used for our own major competitions, opens and other significant events during the year.
Global Brands, Casa and Peak Edge have also sponsored our Academy Course, first tee putting green and the black competition course.
A golf day will take place as part of the arrangement with the club providing full support as suppliers travel from across the country to take part.
Club Chair John Begley said: “We’re delighted to partner with Global Brands, Peak Edge and Casa.
“They’re quality brands which align perfectly with our drive to provide the best possible experience for members and visitors at Chesterfield Golf Club.
“We thank them for their support and look forward to working closely together moving forward.”
Matthew Bulcroft, Marketing Director for Global Brands, said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Chesterfield Golf Club, a prestigious local club with a fantastic reputation and a real connection to the community.
“As a Chesterfield-based business with customers and suppliers across the UK, this partnership gives us a brilliant opportunity to showcase the area, host our guests in a great setting and support a club that shares our focus on quality, experience and long-term relationships.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with the club over the next two years and making the most of what is a really exciting partnership."
The new agreement, which will initially run for two years, complements the arrangements which we have with our principal sponsor SMH Group, another high-quality operator in the financial sector.
