This is one of those stories that says far more about a gym than a leaderboard ever could.
At our recent R.A.D® Acid Athletics event, Sam won the men’s division and with it, a brand new pair of training shoes.
The thing is, Sam had already won a pair at one of our previous events.
Without hesitation, he passed his prize on to Jack.
Then Jack did something equally special.
Instead of keeping them for himself, he chose to give the shoes to Archie, one of our Teen athletes who has recently stepped up into the main classes and is currently training towards his goal of joining the Royal Marines.
This week, when the shoes finally arrived, Jack was able to hand them over to Archie in person during class. No fanfare. No fuss. Just a genuinely kind moment between members of our community.
People often think CrossFit is all about competition, lifting heavy weights or chasing the clock. And whilst we absolutely love those things, this is the part that means the most.
It’s celebrating someone else’s win as much as your own.
It’s recognising hard work and potential in others.
It’s understanding that the strongest people in the room are often the ones willing to give something away to help someone else move forward.
Sam didn’t have to pass on his prize. Jack didn’t have to pass it on again. But they did.
Because that’s who they are.
And that’s the kind of community we’re incredibly proud to have at CrossFit Cirencester.
Congratulations to Sam, thank you to Jack for such a thoughtful gesture, and Archie, we’re all behind you as you chase your Royal Marines dream.
This is CrossFit Cirencester. ❤️🦁

One of my favourite things about being part of the CrossFit affiliate community is seeing how different gyms put their own stamp on the same mission.
A huge thank you to Iain and Fraser at CrossFit Glasgow for their hospitality this morning. Ross was the first face we saw as we walked through the door and immediately made us feel welcome. It’s a small thing, but first impressions matter, and it set the tone for the whole visit.
Fraser then came over before class to make sure we were all set and ready to go. He coached a brilliant session. Calm, attentive and genuinely invested in the people in front of him. The kind of coaching that makes everyone in the room feel seen, whether it’s your first class or your thousandth.
Afterwards, Fraser took the time to show us around the facility and we had a great chat about coaching, affiliates and the opportunities we have to keep raising standards together.
It reminded me that the very best affiliates aren’t trying to be the biggest or the loudest. They simply care. They care about the experience people have from the moment they walk through the door, the quality of coaching on the floor, and the community they’re building every single day.
CrossFit Glasgow are doing exactly that.
Thank you again, Iain, Fraser & Ross. We really appreciated your time and generosity. Looking forward to catching up with Iain again at the UK Affiliate Gathering in London next weekend and continuing the conversations that help all of us make our affiliates even better.
This is what makes CrossFit special. Affiliates learning from affiliates, sharing ideas and collectively showing what fitness can and should look like.

CrossFit Training & Education “Heavy Days” are not merely an option, but a fundamental and essential component of CrossFit’s strength and conditioning prescription. They are crucial for building maximal strength and power, which directly underpins and enhances an athlete’s work capacity across all time and modal domains – a core tenet of CrossFit fitness.
These dedicated sessions are vital for driving adaptations that cannot be achieved through metabolic conditioning alone, ensuring a truly comprehensive and constantly varied training regimen.
Proper implementation, guided by clear intent and an unwavering focus on sound mechanics, ensures effective progression for athletes of all levels, from novice to elite.

One of the most damaging trends in fitness content right now is the idea that as you get older, you should do less — stop sprinting, avoid heavy lifting, skip the hard workouts. It sounds like caution. It’s actually the opposite of helpful.
Removing intensity from your training as you age is a path to deconditioning. It’s a path toward depending on other people for the things you currently do yourself. Squatting, deadlifting, sprinting, doing hard workouts — these are not things to phase out. They’re things to scale intelligently and keep doing. The weights come down. The mechanics stay sound. The intensity stays.
Because if you can’t sprint in training, you can’t sprint in life. And life will ask you to sprint — chasing a kid, hiking with a pack, playing a pickup game, handling an emergency. The training exists to make sure you’re ready when it does.

Last Friday, while on school pick-up duty with his son, Kev found himself facing a challenge that no workout could ever prepare you for.
A young boy became trapped when a tree branch collapsed in the strong winds, pinning his leg beneath the trunk. Without fanfare, without cameras, and without thinking twice, Kev stepped in to help.
Thankfully, the boy is safe.
Kev has been very modest about the whole thing, which probably tells you everything you need to know about his character. But we think it’s worth recognising.
CrossFit talks about preparing for the unknown and unknowable. Most days that means carrying shopping, chasing the kids, hiking a hill, or feeling strong enough to tackle life’s challenges. Occasionally, it means being physically and mentally capable when a genuine emergency unfolds right in front of you.
What makes this story even more special is that Kev’s son was there to see it happen. Not in a movie. Not on social media. In real life. Watching his dad step forward when someone needed help.
We’re incredibly proud to have Kev in our community.
If you’ve trained alongside Kev, give him some love in the comments. 👏
Not because he’s a hero looking for attention. Quite the opposite.
But because quiet acts of courage deserve celebrating.
💙 Let’s make sure Kev knows how proud his CrossFit Cirencester family is of him. 🦁💪

This week we had five more members reach a 20-week streak:
🎉 Kev Joyce
⛳ Martin Ostle
🏃 Anna James
💙 Coach Gem
👑 Anna Greco
Five very different people.
One keeps the class laughing. One loves playing golf, and his training helps keep him strong and mobile for it. One has an extra gear when running. One spends her time helping others improve. One steers the ship behind the scenes.
Different jobs. Different goals. Different reasons for training.
But they all arrived at the same milestone.
20 weeks.
Not because they found the perfect programme.
Not because they were motivated every day.
Because they kept coming back.
That’s what makes a gym community special. It isn’t built by one big event or one great workout. It’s built by hundreds of ordinary sessions, shared with good people, over and over again.
So here’s to Kev, Martin, Anna, Gem and Anna.
Thanks for being a huge part of what makes CrossFit Cirencester what it is.
If you’re waiting for the perfect time to start, this is your sign. Come and join us—your first week could be the start of your own streak.
See you next week. ❤️

Murph always feels different.
Not because of the workout itself.
Because of the reason behind it.
Hero workouts give us a chance to stop thinking about fitness for a minute and remember the people behind the names. People who served, sacrificed and never made it home.
On Monday at 09:00 we’ll do Murph together, not to prove how fit we are, but to honour Lt. Michael Murphy and everyone represented through workouts like this across the CrossFit community.
Nobody will remember your time.
Nobody cares if you scale it.
What matters is turning up, putting in effort and sharing something hard with the people around you.
That’s always been the best part of Murph.
☀️ It’s looking warm, so bring plenty of water
📋 Please read the workout scales before arriving
🦁 Everyone welcome

Starting something new is hard enough. Starting CrossFit after 6 years away from exercise, with 2 young kids, is a different level entirely 💥
Reviews like this mean a lot because this is exactly what we want CrossFit Cirencester to feel like.
Not intimidating.
Not “elite only”.
Not a room full of strangers trying to outdo each other.
Just good coaching, supportive people, plenty of laughs, and workouts adapted to the person in front of us.
3 months in and already learning new skills, building confidence and feeling stronger every week 👏
Huge thank you to ViX for the kind words and for trusting us enough to walk through the door in the first place ⚡
If you’ve been thinking about starting, this is your reminder that nobody walks in “fit enough”. You just start.

A big milestone for Paula this week, reaching her 20-week streak at CrossFit Cirencester 💙
Paula is part of our Legends class, but the story goes back much further than that.
She’s been training with me for over 20 years, long before CrossFit Cirencester existed, back when sessions looked very different but the important part was exactly the same: turning up and putting the work in.
That’s what makes this one special.
Twenty weeks in a row is brilliant in itself, but when you zoom out, it’s really two decades of commitment to staying active, strong and capable.
Paula has always brought that steady mindset to training. No fuss, no need for attention, just consistently showing up and getting on with it.
It’s been amazing to see that same commitment still there all these years later.
Well done Paula. 20 weeks is a great achievement, but 20 years of training is something else entirely 👏
