⚽️ FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON ⚽️
The Clee Meggies travelled to Young Dons for our first game of the season, and it was certainly a game of two halves! 🐑💙

The first half was a real slog 😬. We were slow out of the blocks, with some sloppy play and a few too many easy goals conceded, leaving us 3-0 down at half-time.

And then there was the pitch… 🌱😂

The grass was so long there were calls for the gardener to be sacked on the spot! 🧑‍🌾❌ It even resulted in Harry cutting his hand open, meaning a dash off to Boston for stitches and jabs! 🩹🏥 Not exactly the start to the season we had planned!

But the old saying “football is a game of two halves” really came true. 💪🔥

A much more determined second-half performance saw the Meggies come out with a completely different attitude. We played some great football, created chances and managed to grab a goal ⚽️👏 — a huge improvement from the first half.

A brilliant performance that caught the eye of the parents and earned Curtis the award! ⭐️👏

There’s plenty for us to learn from this one, but also lots of positives to take into our second league game. 💙⚽️

Heads up, work hard and keep improving! 💪

🏆 Trainer of the Week – Anya 🏆

After a disappointing result at the weekend, being pipped to victory by Ruston, it was time for the players to get back to training and put the setback behind them.

The first drill was a competitive one-on-one race to the ball, and Anya showed exactly what was needed, winning every race and defending every duel. 💪 She showed fantastic strength, determination and a real desire to never give up, making sure nobody got past her.

She carried that mentality into the next drill and the game, constantly finding space, linking up with quick one-twos and putting in maximum effort in both attack and defence. ⚽️🔥

Anya’s attitude, determination and work rate throughout the session earned her the well-deserved Trainer of the Week award.

⚽️ SUNDAY CUP | PARENTS’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH 🏆

Another confident and determined performance from Harry in Sunday’s cup tie saw him pick up the votes from the parents and deservedly take home Parents’ Player of the Match! 👏🏻🏆

It felt like Ruston played everything down the right wing, but Harry was there time and time again — sliding into tackles, making huge interceptions and winning header after header. 💪🏻🔥 He absolutely put the miles in! 🏃🏻‍♂️💨

Then, after taking a knock in the second half of extra time, Harry still didn’t want to leave the pitch! 😤💥

A true warrior’s performance — he left absolutely everything out there. ❤️‍🔥⚽️

Well done, Harry! 👏🏻🏆 What a shift! 💪🏻🔥

🏆 SUNDAY CUP HEROICS!🧤

Sunday’s cup tie against Ruston brought out the absolute best in Millie! 💪🏻She played her socks off from start to finish, showing incredible confidence and determination between the sticks. 🧤⚽️

Quick off her line ⚡️, plenty of shouting and organising 📣, and some UNBELIEVABLE saves — including a huge double save in the dying minutes of extra time! 😱🙌🏻

An outstanding performance from Millie, who thoroughly deserved to be named Coaches’ Player of the Match! 🏆👏🏻

Trainer of the week 🏆 Ryley

Last weeks trainer of the week was Ryley.
Drills last week focused on defending set plays and also attacking Ryley showed his importance in the air winning headers to clear the ball but also showed he can be a threat going forward 💪🏻
We moved on to some short passing focused drills which Ryley delivered taking on board the coaches advice.

Ryley continued this into the game at the end defending well and playing out from the back with some nice forward passing 👏🏻⚽️

Trainer of the week 🏆 Curtis

Trainer of the week last week was Curtis.

The first 45 minutes was focused on fitness with Curtis leading by example putting in 100% of what we asked from the team 💪🏻

Onto training, our focus turned to set pieces focusing on the defending side of the game, Curtis carried on the effort from fitness into these drills winning everything with the defence not conceding a single goal. 👌🏻

Everything we asked Curtis he delivered and lead by example talking and encouraging his teammates throughout 👏🏻

Well done Curtis brilliant training session ⚽️🔵⚫️🔵

🏆 Trainer of the Week — Theo 🏆
Theo was our Trainer of the Week this week, and what a fantastic session he had!

He gave his all from the very start, throwing himself into the fitness training and embracing all three circuit-style drills with fantastic energy and determination.

Moving onto the ball work, Theo really stood out. In the defence vs attack practice, he showed quick feet, classy touches and excellent passing, consistently creating space and helping his teammates gain valuable points.

Then came the final challenge — a 10 vs 10, three-touch game — and Theo carried everything he had shown throughout the session into the game. The ball seemed to be magnetised to him! He was instrumental in moving the ball from defence into midfield and through to attack, linking play, supporting his teammates and helping his team secure the win.

An outstanding all-round performance, full of energy, skill, teamwork and determination.

Brilliant effort, Theo — a thoroughly deserved Trainer of the Week! 👏⚽🏆
