𝗡𝗘𝗪: 𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦’ 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦

Thinking about trying Reformer Pilates but keep putting it off?

Good news: you don’t have to wait until January to reinvent yourself. And frankly, January has enough going on.

Our next Beginners’ Reformer Pilates course starts Wednesday 11th November at 7.30pm. Four weeks to get to grips with the Reformer, learn the fundamentals and discover what all the fuss is about.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
✨ 4 weekly sessions
✨ £50 for the full course
✨ Just 6 places available
✨ No previous experience needed

A little something for yourself before the festive chaos kicks in. Because December will arrive whether you’re ready or not.

Our previous beginners’ courses have filled up quickly, with waiting lists on several occasions, so if you’ve been thinking about giving Reformer Pilates a go, this is your nudge. 😉

𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀… 💚

You may have noticed that our offers have been disappearing from Groupon, so I thought I’d explain what’s happening.

Unfortunately, Groupon allows itself to reduce offers beyond the discounts originally agreed, thanks to the small print in its contract. Add their commission into the mix, and the amount left for the business can become rather less appealing.

I removed our massage offers a couple of months ago for a couple of reasons. Firstly, some promotions left me receiving less than £10 per massage. Once you factor in the time involved, heating, lighting, washing towels and all the other costs of running a studio, the figures simply stopped making sense.

Secondly, I was struggling to offer the volume of appointments people wanted, particularly in the evenings, when our Pilates classes are also at their busiest. Despite the availability restrictions being clearly explained in the terms and conditions, I was still receiving complaints and some rather unpleasant messages about not having more appointments available. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet worked out how to be in two places at once!

I’m happy to offer introductory deals and give people the opportunity to try our services, but there does need to be a point at which the numbers add up and the availability is realistic.

I’ve now made the same decision with our 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀, so these will no longer be available through Groupon for the time being.

As a sole trader, I have to keep an eye on the practicalities of running the business, and working for progressively less money isn’t a particularly sustainable business model.

𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁! I’ll be adding some 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 directly to our booking system over the next couple of weeks, so if you were hoping to grab a bargain, keep an eye on the page.

You’ll still be able to find offers on Pilates and other services, just directly through Equilibrate rather than Groupon.

Thank you to everyone who supports the studio. Whether you found me through Groupon or have been coming along independently, I really do appreciate every booking and recommendation. 💚

𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

Firstly, I’m really sorry to anyone whose class I’ve had to cancel since last Friday.

I’m currently recovering from a head and neck injury and post-concussion symptoms, so classes are going to be substantially reduced over the next couple of weeks while I recover.

Thankfully, I had already arranged some fab cover teachers for the daytime classes next week, so those classes are now online and available to book.

Apologies for the delay in getting them on there — screen time has been virtually non-existent over the last few days.

For any massage clients, I’m also really sorry but massage treatments are going to have to be paused for the next couple of weeks. I’m not currently able to fully use my left arm in particular, so there’s no sensible way for me to treat safely at the moment.

And apologies to anyone who has tried to have a conversation with me and been met with a slightly confused response 😅 My brain is not exactly firing on all cylinders at the moment, so if I’ve looked blankly at you, forgotten what you’ve just said, or made absolutely no sense… that’ll be why.

I 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 I’ve got the booking site right 🤞 but if you have any problems booking, please drop me a message and I’ll try to respond as soon as I can. Texts and WhatsApps are probably going to get a quicker response than emails for the time being.

Thank you for bearing with me 💛

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘅.

5 exercises for back pain.
5 stretches for tight hips.
5 moves for better posture.
5 exercises to “activate” your glutes.

Apparently anything can now be solved in five steps. We await “𝟱 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆” with interest.

Then come the comments.

FrightenedDragon666 says exercise three should NEVER be done because her aunt did something similar in 2008 and “put three discs out”.

EnthusiasticAubergine89 says the whole list is unnecessary because her hairdresser’s husband cured his sciatica by cutting out tomatoes and standing barefoot on the lawn for seven minutes every morning.

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

The funny thing is, some of those five exercises might be brilliant.

But a generic list can’t see how you move, what changes when we alter the position, range or load, or which bits are actually worth spending time on.

That’s where a 1-2-1 is useful — we can try things, make small changes and see what actually makes a difference for you.

Because sometimes you don’t need another five exercises.

You just need to know which ones are worth doing.

And yes, you can keep the tomatoes. 🍅

I’m not going to be the person who starts mentioning the 𝗖-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 in September… 🎄

But festive party season is roughly three months away.

And before anyone panics, this is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 a “get party-ready” transformation challenge.

It’s simply a reminder that 𝟵𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

Long enough to build a habit.
Long enough to get stronger.
Long enough to improve your control, balance or mobility.
Long enough for something that feels difficult now to start feeling much more familiar.

So rather than waiting for January, try this:

𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗 one thing you want to make more consistent.
𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘 one thing that would make a genuine difference to how you move.
𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 one thing that keeps getting in the way.

But don’t make it a three-month masterplan.

𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.

Book the class. Add the extra walk. Practise the movement. Make the time. Change the thing that keeps tripping you up.

Give it a few days and see what happens.

Then do it again.

Because 𝟵𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 can look very different from where you started.

𝗦𝗼 — 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁?

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Your nervous system is adaptable — which is one reason we don’t just do the same exercises, in the same way, forever.

Different positions, different apparatus, different loads and different challenges give your nervous system more ways to respond.

That’s a big part of Pilates for me: 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲 “𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁” 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲, but giving your body more options.

𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵?

Book a class. 😉
