Yesterday's MOM against Eddlewood was Ryan. Ryan had been superb in training this week and he was exceptional yesterday. Calm on the ball, making intelligent runs, excellent passing and with his confidence building he was going past players with ease. Adding to his two assists he topped it off with a very well deserved goal, before injuring himself in the celebration 🤣! A deserved MOM!

The cup games are coming thick and fast and yesterday we faced Eddlewood in the first round of the Central Region cup.

With the wind gusting more than 40mph we knew the game would be as much about managing the weather and the boys took the advice to make the most of the first half. 2 goals from Roman and 3 from Findlay saw us five up at half time and it really could and should have been more. Kieran had three efforts from the edge of the box inches wide, we missed two headers right in front of goal, Joshua was clean through and the goalie made a terrific save, and he did also from Charlie, and we had a few other near misses.

Second half we asked the boys to try and be calm and keep it down and for the first 10 minutes they did that, continuing to create chances but the wind was incredibly difficult. A free kick from Kieran showing how ridiculous it was as he blasted it towards goal and the wind caught it and blew it straight up into the sky. To Eddlewoods credit, they got three back with pressure in our box after the game got a little heated after an incident but the boys regained composure and kept pushing forward into the wind and sealing the win with a beautiful strike from Ryan, cutting across the ball with his left foot right into the corner. 6-3 it finished and we move into the next round.

Kildrum 0 Hamilton 7

We knew it would be tough today playing a top A league team but the boys didn't let themselves down and battled hard. The game was tight in the first half and after 35 mins we were only 2-0 down despite playing into a very strong wind but the referee made a poor decision to allow the Hamilton 3rd right on the half time whistle and we never recovered.

Into the second half and our heads started to drop a little and spaces opened up as Hamilton moved the ball around really well. We were denied a stonewall penalty and their goalie made a great save from a Kieran free kick but as the game wore on we had Ryan, Jack and Bradley go off with injuries and Hamilton got a few late goals.

Well done to Hamilton, they had a bit of everything - rock solid at the back with pace, nice passing and clinical finishing. Good luck in the next round!

Our MOM today was Haydn. We had a lot of defending to do and he battles hard, winning so many tackles and headers and never let his head go down.

It's that time of the year again as we take a short break from league action to participate in the Scottish Cup tomorrow at home. We've been handed a very difficult tie against A League Hamilton so this will be a major test for the boys and a significant step up in levels but this is what the competition is all about!

Today's joint MOM was Ethan and Bradley.

We had to deal with a lot of long high balls on a windy day and two past powerful skillfull strikers and he was excellent, consistently winning his tackles and headers.

Ethan was asked to play a slightly different role today and executed it perfectly - he showed a good understanding of tactics and was absolutely fearless against a player twice his size.

Well done boys.

This morning we welcomed Rosebank for a brilliant league opener as both teams played out an entertaining draw.

This week we were missing Rico, Jaiden and Jack but we were boosted with the return of Roman, who hadn't managed to train since being injured in the opening day of the season but he was able to make the bench.

We didn't start well and Rosebank opened the scoring after 4 minutes with a header at the back post from a free kick. We were under a little pressure after than but got level when a corner from Joshua found it's way into the net. That goal gave us a boost and we then went on to totally dominate. Findlay grabbed the second then Kieran rattled the bar from 30 yards with a free kick. Roman came on after 25 minutes and could have had 2 goals in 3 minutes before he eventually got his reward with a cool finish before half time. 3-1 and it should have been more.

The second half was tougher, with the wind picking up in our face Rosebank came right into it. Thier second goal was a superb strike from 25 yards into the top corner then their equaliser was tapped in at the back post. At 3-3 rosebank could have went ahead with a penalty but Seth saved his 3th pen in his last 5. The last 5 minutes we went on the hunt for the winner but couldn't find the finish with a couple of good chances.

Overall a draw was a fair outcome, well done to both sets of players for putting on a show..

Well done boys for finishing the group stages with another win, topping the group with 14 points out of 15. We didn't have it all our own way, EDFC made life difficult and played some good stuff but despite not being on top form we did create a good number of chances, particularly in the first 10 and last 10 of the game and it should have been more comfortable but a lot of credit to EDFC for that.

We opened the scoring with a wonderful goal, one touch passing through the midfield with Ethan, Joshua and eventually Kieran who rifled a great goal high into the net. EDFC equalised in the second half but two good Findlay finishes sealed it as we finished the match really strongly, earning him the MOM.

Out best wishes to the EDFC player who suffered a wrist injury - hopefully a speedy recovery and all the best for the season ahead.

Glenboig 2 Kildrum United 2 (1-3 pens)

Qualification to the semi-final secured!

We knew Glenboig would be a tough game and so it proved with a exciting, blood and thunder cup game that culminated in a dramatic shootout win with Seth the hero in the end!

We went into the game knowing any type of win would be enough to qualify with a game to spare but Glenboig weren't going to make it easy. We started quite well, the Glenboig goalie making some great saves, particularly from a Joshua header but couldn't keep out a Ryan header on 14 minutes, ghosting in from deep to head in a Hayden cross. Findlay made it 2 with a great run and finish on 21 minutes and it was looking good, until one minute later Glenboig were awarded a fairly soft penalty and he converted to bring it back to 2-1. Within 3 minutes Glenboig were level, a lovely goal from the edge of the box out of Sets reach.

2-2 at half time and all to play for. We had further chances, a Haydn free kick was saved well and a few shots were smothered but both defences were on top. Penalties were inevitable.

We lost our last penalty shootout in the final of a festival in June and we feared the worst when Findlay put our first over the bar, however Glenboig failed to convert their first also. Charlie the converted for 1-0, Glenboig equalised for 1-1, Harrison made it 2-1 before Seth made a tremendous save to keep it 2-1. Joshua then cooly scored to make it 3-1 and Seth had a chance to be a hero - and he was - diving off to his left to secure the bonus point and qualification for the semi final.

Kildrum United 2 Rossvale 1

Today we welcomed Rossvale for the third league cup group stage match and it was a tight game between two well matched teams. We continued to be without Kieran and Roman and Rico was unable to shake off his knee injury early on but we were boosted yesterday with the return to the club of Charlie.

It was in the 15th minute we took the lead, Charlie on for the injured Rico took a smart short corner from Joshua and picked out Findlay at the back post for a downwards header past the goalie. We extended our lead on 19 minutes, Ryan with a terrific bit of skill on the halfway and excellent through ball for Findlay who nutmegged the goalie before slamming it home. Great goal. At 2-0 most of the game was played in the middle of the park, with both teams struggling to get any rhythm with the constant disruptions from an over officious referee in a game that was played in good spirits.

In the second half we probably should have gone 3-0 up with efforts from Harrison and Charlie failing to hit the target and Jaiden was unlucky not to win a penalty but Rossvale, who edged the game for possession, got one back with one minute to go, a rare lapse in concentration by our otherwise excellent back line. The goal proved no more than a consolation and we took the 3 points to top the group with 3 wins out of 3.

Today's MOM was Seth. Although he didn't have any major saves of note to make, he carried on from Tuesday with a calm and assured performance, collecting crosses and through balls and showing great handling when balls came towards goal. His decision making was always spot on and his kicking was great too. Well done Seth, great game.

Bo'ness United 1 Kildrum United 2

Hot off the heels of Saturday's opening cup win, we patched ourselves up with injuries for the second game in two days with only one fit sub and it couldn't have been tougher with a visit to Bo'ness United. The heavens opened just before kick off and the conditions were difficult but both teams served up an entertaining cup match.

Bo'ness started brightly but the boys defended well and we took the lead through an excellent Jaiden volley at a corner kick. The rest of the first half was quite even with both teams giving 100% with bo'ness having a little more of the ball but we were creating the best chances with Findlay a whisker away from finishing a fine move. 1-0 at half time.

Into the second half we started superbly, Jack picking the ball up on the half way line, driving past two and sending a defence splitting pass for Findlay to finish high into the net. Bo'ness then threw the kitchen sink at us to try and come back but the defending was exceptional though they did score a fantastic header from a corner to bring it back to 2-1. The game got a bit feisty but we continued to handle the conditions well, especially Seth who's handling was absolutely impeccable in horrible rain. We should have seen the game out more comfortably with a few good efforts from Joshua, Findlay and Jayden and we were awarded a penalty with 3 minutes to go after Jaiden was fouled after a driving run into the box but the penalty was fired over. It didn't matter though as we handled the last few minutes of pressure to get a valuable 3 points.

Great job boys, brilliant performance against a very good side !

Today's MOM was difficult, so many good performances but Jaiden scored a great goal, won countless battles in the middle of the park, had 2 or 3 efforts at goal and in the last minute won a brilliant header to clear a dangerous corner to seal the game. Great game Jaiden.
