Hi when do you think you will make a decision about this Saturday as forecast looks grim ?
Little Edit From This Weekend. My first Time Hear And Loved it!! :)

MTB Uplift Service, Cwmcarn, South Wales One of the original mtb uplifts in the UK. Running since 2006 we are here to run you guys to the top of the DH & XC trails at Cwmcarn in South Wales.

Cwmcarn offers a number of trails, to include some pretty gnarly DH tracks, some tasty trails which are regularly used for Enduro events as well as some easier XC style trails for the less crazy riders. Cwmcarn is located just off the M4 North of Newport and it's only about 40 minutes from the Severn Bridge tolls. We are a small family business and we love riding bikes too.

Operating as usual

[04/15/21]   We will hopefully be reopening the uplift June/July once all restrictions are lifted. Bookings will not be available until much nearer the time.

So as we move forward, thing are starting to look hopeful for this Summer. Shops are open, restaurants will be opening up soon and we can all start looking forward to making plans and catching up with our friends. Many bike parks are opening up in the next few weeks, including some of the other uplifts around the UK. Whilst the trails here at Cwmcarn are already open, the uplift will not be starting up until a bit later in the year. We have decided to wait until all social distancing measures have been lifted, so we can run a full bus. If we come back too early and are unable to run at full capacity, or if we have to stop again due to an increase in Covid numbers (3rd wave), it will be financially worse for us than not running at all.

Looking forward to catching up with you all soon… 29/01/2021

Caerphilly County is currently under a local lockdown. So this means people are not allowed to leave or enter the county without a valid reason. So unless you are local (or from round yer), you are not permitted to ride the trails here until the restrictions are lifted.

Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus/Covid19 and current lockdown rules, the uplift service at Cwmcarn will not be running anytime soon. It is unlikely we will be running again until the beginning of 2021.

If you are planning to visit any of the Welsh mtb trails, please take a look at the Rider Code of Conduct before you make your journey. Trails are now open at Cwmcarn, but many of the facilities are not open. The uplift is not going to be running until at least November, when hopefully social distancing measures have been relaxed.

No Uplift yet, but the Trails are now open at Cwmcarn. Not many facilities will be open, so you'll need to be self sufficient. Current thinking is that the uplift will probably not be available until at least November, if social distancing requirements are relaxed by then.

All the trails at Cwmcarn are open, (Note the new Blue has not been opened by CBCC yet.) Please read the additional guidance at the trailheads. There is also a tree over the Finish section of the Twrch, (thanks for all the reports) it will be getting cleared first thing in the morning. No news yet about reopening the uplift, but I did uncover some old footage from Kenny's interview just before he started working for us. I said, don't drive too fast, just drive with a sense of urgency...

Due to the ongoing crisis with Covid-19 coronavirus we are closing all car parks and facilities at Cwmcarn Forest for the foreseeable future. The car parks will be locked as of 23/03/20 and will only reopen once the current situation has passed. The centre has closed and all facilities will now close.

We would like to thank you for your continued support for Cwmcarn Forest but would now like to request that you stay away from the site until this has passed, this will help limit the spread of the virus and help safeguard us all. Please remember the rules on social distancing and if you can stay at home please do. Most of all stay safe.

Tony you legend...

Tony's has been delivering to the local area for over 20 years and will continue to do so during this time, we have extra hygiene measures in place - we are only taking cards and delivery and collections only thankyou and hope you are all safe and well. Tony Harris Manager 🙂

All future bookings have now been cancelled. Those booked in for 25/26th April and 17th May will receive a full refund. I will process these later today, but it can take a few days to show in your bank account. I will send out an email once I've done them. All other bookings have already been cancelled and refunded. Those payments should arrive back in your accounts by tomorrow.

So that's it. We'll be back at some point, not sure when, but we'll be back. Take care and stay out of trouble, see you on the other side....

Darrell Axford, signing off... xx

[03/18/20]   Hi Guys, all bookings from now until 18/19th April have been cancelled/refunded due to the ongoing Coronavirus-Covid19 situation. It can take a few days for the money to show in your account.

Stay safe, look after your loved ones and hopefully see you all later in the year.

Best Butcher in town.... by a long shot. This is where I'm getting my food from...

In light of the newest advice following Boris Johnston press conference today. We will be putting additional hygiene measures in place this week. so please be patient if your wait is a little longer than normal.
In addition, to support our most vulnerable customers we will be offering a non contact delivery service.
We will be delivering locally on Thursday evening, please only use this service if you are among the “at risk category” or showing signs of the virus (deliveries will be limited due to capacity)
Place all orders over the phone by Wednesday evening, we’ll call you back Thursday to take payment over the phone once your order is ready and deliver Thursday evening. We’ll call your contact number on arrival and leave your parcels at the door for you to collect. If you know of anyone who may benefit from this service and may not be on social media please pass on our number 01443812162

Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus/Covid19, the uplift service at Cwmcarn has now stopped running for the next few weeks. I say next few weeks, but in reality it could be much longer. I am cancelling everything before 25/26th April for now. Anyone booked in will receive an email in the next few days.

The main reason I'm taking this so seriously is because my wife has a chronic lung condition which puts her at extreme risk, should she come into contact with this virus, so I'm not taking any risk whatsoever.

I'd like to say thanks to all of my customers who've supported us over the years and I hope to see you all again soon. Take care of yourselves.... Darrell

We are running the uplift as normal this weekend (for now), but I'm asking anyone who is feeling unwell, been around anyone who is unwell or in anyway is at risk of spreading something, to please stay away.

If you need to cancel, you will receive a FULL REFUND. This is really important to me, as my wife suffers from a chronic lung condition and is at extreme risk if she (through me) comes into contact with the Coronavirus (Covid 19).

But apart from that, lets hope you have a sick weekend!!

Cheers, Darrell 07887 693108

Unfortunately I have just been informed by the Council that the bottom section (from the fire road) of the DH tracks and Twrch xc track have been closed. This is because the contractors working on the crossings for the new blue trail have left those sections in a condition the Council deem to be unsafe. There is no alternative route/diversion available. Therefore I am unable to run the uplift as planned this weekend.

If you are booked in, you will have received an email with some options. Please reply via that email or text/phone me on 07887 693108, Darrell

This track is bombproof 💣 Just done a full track walk, completely fine, like nothing happened. This must be one of the most resilient tracks ever made. I’m keeping an eye on the weather, but am planning to open as normal for the weekend. Chow 4 now...

Where are you riding this weekend? Just been paid...still places for Tomorrow...

We will be running the uplift next week on Tuesday 4th Feb, as there is a small group doing a training session with ProRide mtb. So, we thought we'd open the uplift to anyone else, as we will be running anyway. It's only £25 for the day too. (Normally £31.50 midweek).

Just book online as normal via

Leigh Johnson on the bus today. He was the only one not faffing. A few prototypes getting set up in the background... It's Payday this Friday and we still have some room for Sunday...

S*x Education at Cwmcarn

Anyone recognise Cwmcarn in Season two of S*x Education on Netflix? What goes on the bus, stays on the bus.... But I hope nobody does that in the bus...

Well, it's now 2020 and I've almost eaten all of the chocolates, the in-laws have gone home, so I suppose it's time to go back to work...

The uplift is back running this weekend, 11th & 12th January. Sunday is already full, as the locals have booked the whole bus, but Saturday still has some spaces available. So maybe I'll see you then... Daz

Just had a few last minute cancellations. 3 places now available for the uplift tomorrow, Saturday 28th Dec. Book online at
