I used to be petrified of the gym…

like seriously talk myself out of it every time but then the gym started to feel good the more I turned up and got used to the environemnt and where the machines were, watching others do the machines I wanted to do but was too scared, I started trying new machines that scared me.

I started walking into the gym, quickly popping my stuff in a locker and heading right out to do my workout and not sitting on the bench in the changers scared to walk out.

The one thing i used, when I started the gym, was pop myself on the treadmill to eyeball what other people were doing and this gave me enough courage to try the seated leg press.

It kinda snowballed after that, the more times I put myself out my comfort zone with using new machines, the more I got confidnet to try new moves without fear of judgement from the poeple around me in the gym.

And guess what?? No one even watched me in the gym, my god, I had terrible form when i started (check this pic lol) like REALLLLLLY bad and absolutely not one said a word to me :)

A common misconception is that the gym is not welcoming and the people who know what they are doing are judgemental. But really the gym is a space where people betterr themselves and create stronger, fittter, versions of themslves and then I realised β€œβ€what on earth is there to be scared about when you start entering an environment like that?

I help women daily overcome gym fear and become confident and strong using The M.E.G Method πŸ’ͺ❀️‍πŸ”₯

Me 🀝 calling anything I post an announcement when it is important for you to know 🀘🏻

Bodyweight workouts won’t tone your body! You need to be challenging your muscles to tone and highly likely you need to get over the fear of the gymπŸ‘€

You deserve a space in the gym so stop putting it off!

To add: if you have an at home set gym set up and the weight challenged you then this does not apply to you ❀️‍πŸ”₯ keep going !!

I help women daily with lifting and making sure they are challenging their body, safely. They go from β€œwhat the hell do I do with strength training?” to confidence in the gym & results that last a lifetime πŸ’ͺ

4 things I wish I knew when starting my fitness journey βœ…

πŸ”Ή1. Progress is slower than you might anticipate. I would shoot the weight up every session thinking that’s what everyone else was doing by adding 5kg on each side because I thought that wasn’t really a lot of weight. Little did I know the 1.25kg and 2.5kg plates are your best friend in the gym for progression.

πŸ”Ή2. The food you eat plays a bigger role in your fitness journey than you think. You may limit your progression in the gym if the food you eat does not accompany the training well.

πŸ”Ή3. FOCUS ON FORM. Starting the gym, I remember, was really overwhelming. There was a lot of machines that looked alien and trying to navigate around was stressful as times. There’s so many form videos out there on YouTube, Instagram and tiktok - take advantage of that and learn how to do an exercise properly with a LOW WEIGHT first. There’s no need to rush it and up the weight because you think you can do it because most likely the form will be off.

πŸ”Ή4. Repeat exercises to see progression. It took me a while to understand that I needed to return to the same exercises and build the weight on them instead of going into the gym each session and doing different exercises each time. For example, once I continuously did hip thrusts on my leg day and slowly increased the weight, that’s when I saw my hard work paying off.
