Let’s take a peek at our Swim Academy swimmers during our Water Safety Pyjama Week!👚💦 Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire 💦

Puddle Ducks Pyjama Week teaches invaluable personal survival skills as well as being lots of fun! All our classes have a water safety element to them every week, however, our Pyjama Week gives all our swimmers an opportunity to see what it might feel like to be wearing clothes in the water.

This week is our annual Charity Pyjama Week where we raise money for Children’s Hospital Pyjamas who donate pyjamas to poorly children staying in hospital. You can also donate to Children’s Hospital Pyjamas by bringing a new pair of pyjamas to your class if your local pool is collecting.

Well done to all of our swimmers, teachers and parents for joining in and having lots of fun in the pool! 💦

We are halfway through our amazing Charity PJ week in support of the wonderful of the Baby Unit. It is their 50th anniversary this year and they are aiming to fund raise £50,000 over the year, and we want to help.

Friends of the Baby Unit have been supporting the Derby Neonatal unit, who care for premature and sick babies, for 50 years. One of their recent purchases to support the unit was a transport incubator in order to help the children who need to move to a different hospital for their treatement.

Please help us and donate on our justgiving page to support the wonderful work they do.

It’s our Water Safety Pyjama Week with our charity partner Children’s Hospital Pyjamas 💦

Puddle Ducks Water Safety Pyjama Week teaches invaluable personal survival skills as well as being lots of fun!
During these special lessons, children (and their grown-ups if in the pool) come to class in their pyjamas and experience what it feels like to swim in clothes. This helps them understand how different the water feels in real-life situations, while still enjoying the songs, games and activities they love.

It’s a brilliant way to give children practical skills and confidence in the water, while also reassuring parents that their little ones know what to do if they ever find themselves in the water unexpectedly.

Our swimmers (and teachers!) always look forward to Pyjama Week - it’s a memorable milestone and a valuable part of your child’s swimming journey.

Puddle Ducks Baby & Pre-school and Swim Academy teachers are trained to the highest standard by the best in the business. Not only will you have internationally recognised STA qualifications, but you will be specially trained in the 100% child-led Puddle Ducks and Swim Academy programmes.

Our swimming teachers come from all walks of life but they all bond over their love of the way we teach children to swim here at Puddle Ducks. Previous swim teacher experience isn’t necessary, but we do look for a few basics when we are recruiting. We are looking for someone who:

💧Can swim 25m and is confident diving to the bottom of a pool.
💧Is confident, friendly, flexible and reliable.
💧Has a passion for working with children.
💧Has a driving licence and access to a car.
💧Is willing to commit to training over several months.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

💙Save the Date! 💙

Next week, 5th - 11th October is our annual Charity PJ week and this year we have decided to support a wonderful local charity Friends of the Baby Unit. It is their 50th anniversary this year and they are aiming to fund raise £50,000 over the year, and we want to help.

We have set up a Just Giving page here for our franchise and when Pyjama Week is over all donations will go straight to the Friends of the Baby Unit Charity. We also have sponsorship forms for any children who want to raise money for this charity by completing a survival week lesson plan in their PJs.

Friends of the Baby Unit have been supporting the Derby Neonatal unit, who care for premature and sick babies, for 50 years. From providing specialised equipment, upgrading rooms, supplying everyday items and crafting goods enhancing the experience on the unit to providing wellbeing support and guidance to parents. We would love to here if any of our swimmers have received the support of this amazing charity.🥰

What a fantastic achievement! Best friends from
Puddle Ducks to National Championships!

Lottie and her best friend Amber, daughter of Puddle Ducks franchisee Jay Nash (Puddle Ducks Chester, Wirral & North Wales), first splashed into the pool together at Puddle Ducks Holywell Leisure Centre. Fast forward 10 years, after completing the Puddle Ducks programme through to our Elite Swim Academy, these two best friends, now 12 years old, are making waves at the National Swimming Championships competing together for Holywell Swimming Club.

Lottie is excelling in breaststroke while Amber is soaring through the water as an avid butterfly swimmer. From those early Puddle Ducks lessons to competing on the national stage, their journey is a wonderful reminder of how swimming can create friendships and inspire young swimmers to achieve incredible things. Good luck girls, everyone here at Puddle Ducks is cheering you on!

Your child’s swimming journey can start at any time but what ‘learn-to-swim’ environment do you want for them?

Swim Academy, brought to you by the child swimming experts at Puddle Ducks, has a supported learning approach that works. We start with our teachers in the water with your child and we keep our ratios small. Why? With a maximum teacher to child ratio of 1:4 we have developed beginner levels that means your child will never wear a fixed buoyancy aid. Our expert teachers can support swimmers on an individual level, to discover their body’s natural buoyancy in the water, a crucial skill were they to ever fall into water.
Our swimmers are involved in their own learning; we teach them cause and effect; we ask them questions and make sure they understand why they are performing certain activities and what it will lead to – the child is empowered to achieve their goals because they know why they are doing it. We build them up as individuals as well as swimmers; every element of our programme advances their confidence and their skills. Swim Academy, brought to you by the experts at Puddle Ducks. Let’s Do This.
