Despite the weather's initial intentions, we had a brilliant Open shooting the Windsor family of rounds. Pics from the day, and the all important results are all in the images attached.

Sooo, we’ve got some catching up to do!

First up: today’s Warwick shoot, a brisk 48 arrows across 60 and 50 yds in the beautiful grounds at National Trust Kedleston Hall. The winner walks away with the DAC Trophy! We’ve shot it, but as it’s a handicap shoot there’s some sums to do before we can announce the winner. Tense times, we know, but the winner will be announced here as soon as they (and we!) know! 😬

Secondly: it’s been lovely to see all you lovely members of the public during our afternoon of have-a-gos! Many happy folks, delightfully surprised with what they can do with a bow and arrows and a few minutes of being shown what to do! It’s always a delight seeing the happy faces walking away from the shooting line after getting a few in the gold! 🏹🏹

It might have been a bit chilly in the breeze, but summer was definitely showing signs of being on the way for today’s shoot at National Trust Kedleston Hall.

Another local round - the Derby 70. 70 arrows at 70yds, shot 5 arrows at a time!

This week’s efforts - we’re back on the shed. Easy-clean laminate floor, tables and chairs, kitchen units, and gas stove and kettles for making tea.

On the home straight with this one now!

Another promising bunch of budding archers have braved the weather on day two of their beginners course and passed with flying colours today! 🏹

Plus, some of the hardier of our members shot a mammoth 144 arrows in the 1440 family of rounds.

Today’s shoot: a Quarndon Round! Its origins seem to be lost in the sands of time (at least, ChatGPT didn’t know anything about it…), and its structure starts out pretty normal but goes a bit off at the end! 4doz at 80yds, 3doz at 60yds, and just a single dozen at 50yds!

We’d love to share some pics of the ~20 Longbow and Recurve Archers shooting it today, but quite simply, we forgot to take any. 😆

Nevertheless, congratulations Glenn for what was honestly quite a dominating score, and extremely well deserved carrying away of The Brindley Bowl! 🏹🏹 🏆🥳🎉

It’s brilliant to be back at National Trust Kedleston Hall for our summer shooting! We’re so proud to come back to where the club was founded, and continue to shoot on the formal lawns behind the house.

Today’s shoot, a Windsor round (3doz arrows at each of 60, 50 and 40 yards distances), also saw some prizes given out - the Ray Lunn cup for Recurve and Longbow. Congratulations Scott for winning the Recurve trophy and Simon for winning the Longbow trophy. Excellent shooting gentlemen! 🏹🎉
