Before she toed the line of the Boston Marathon in an effort to defend her title, Sharon Lokedi had a problem. She forgot her watch.

After realizing halfway to the start that she was missing the crucial piece of gear, Lokedi and her coach managed to find a generous helper. Former collegiate runner Stephen Pifer, whose wife Laura was running the race, lent his Garmin Forerunner 55 to the 32 year old Kenyan runner.

Lokedi went on to win in the fourth-fastest time ever, and her effort was documented on Pifer's Strava ("Stephen's fastest Marathon!" the post proclaims). Included in the stats are Lokedi's 4:37 22nd mile, where her heart rate spiked to 197 BPM.

After the race, Lokedi and Pifer reunited and she returned the watch, taking a picture to commemorate the kind gesture.
