Two weeks of persevering with George and today we finally had a little jump in the arena at home 🥹🐴

I know to some people it probably doesn’t look like much, but this one feels massive to me.

Earlier this year I took him out to Epworth and he absolutely royally decked me 😂 so getting back to this point, especially doing everything on my own at home, feels like a proper little win.

Big geldings, especially ones his size, are usually quite numb and straightforward about life… George clearly missed that memo 😂 In fact, some days I’m still not entirely convinced anyone actually took his testicles out.

He’s sensitive, spooky, green and definitely makes you work for every little bit of progress.

We’ve still got loads to improve, particularly on the flat, so next on the list is some flat lessons before we ask too much more of him jumping-wise. Then hopefully we can start getting him out to different places and building his confidence.

There have definitely been moments over the last couple of weeks where I’ve wondered what on earth I’m doing 😂 but today I actually felt really proud of us both.

Still a long way to go, but for the first time I really feel like we’re getting somewhere ❤️

George has been set a little course challenge at home today… pray for me 😂🙏🐴

After bronking me off in spectacular style at Epworth, I’m hoping he’s decided to behave himself this time 🤣

At nearly 19hh, I’m not entirely sure whether I’m riding a showjumper or piloting a small aircraft ✈️😂

Let’s see what the big lad makes of it! 💪❤️

My old girl is really starting to look like an old lady now 🥹❤️

But judging by this face, I think the new shelter has definitely got her seal of approval. She looks very content tucked up in there with her hay, and that’s all I want for her these days — happy, comfortable and enjoying life at her own pace.

Just the small matter of John actually roofing it now 😂🙈🐴❤️

A little appreciation post for John ❤️ and Robin too, who helped us get Betty’s shelter pulled up and into place. 🐴

Then John was out there on his own last night, in the dark, boarding it all up so my old lady can live out happily and comfortably through the winter. 🥹

Now her arthritis is starting to kick in, this is about as close to stable life as she can get while still being able to keep moving, which is exactly what she needs.

She’s got her shelter, her hay at one end of her track and her water right over at the other, so she has to keep walking backwards and forwards throughout the day rather than just standing in one place.

It might not look like much to some people, but these little things make such a difference to an older horse. ❤️

Very grateful to them both for helping make my latest plan for Betty happen — and especially John for being out there in the dark finishing it off. 😂❤️

What a super busy week it’s been for Avalon Transport! 🐴🐶🐱🚛💨

A huge thank you to all of our customers for continuing to support us and keeping the wheels turning. ❤️

This week alone we’ve covered some serious miles, with journeys taking us to Halifax, Helmsley, Teesside, Ripon, Pickering, Lincoln Old Cantley and Tickhill, alongside plenty of local work around Belton and Epworth.

After over 16 years providing horse transport, we’re incredibly grateful for every booking, recommendation and returning customer.

And don’t forget — we can now transport dogs and cats too! 🐶🐱

The horsebox is finally back home after a busy week and is now ready for a thorough clean and disinfect, before we’re back on the road again with more jobs already booked in for next week! 🧽🚛✨

Whether it’s a local journey or further afield, horses, dogs or cats, we’re happy to help. We can also assist with horses that need a little extra patience and help with loading.

This is available for anyone who may struggle with transport or simply needs a little extra help getting their furry friend to and from their appointment. ❤️

An extra fee applies for the collection & delivery service (extra fee depends on how far away you are).

Is it Friday the 13th and nobody told me?! 😂🤦‍♀️

Up every two hours through the night with the puppies, so already functioning on approximately 3% battery…

Took the dogs for a nice peaceful morning walk — lovely idea. Until one of the Cockapoos decided fences were merely a suggestion, slipped through one and FOLLOWED SOMEONE HOME. 😭😂 Cue a full-scale search party.

Meanwhile Amy’s stuck in traffic and running late…

Hairdresser moves my appointment FORWARD — obviously on the one morning where time has completely ceased to exist — so now I’m late for that too. 💇‍♀️🏃‍♀️💨

So I’m currently walking into the hairdressers late, sleep-deprived, slightly feral and smelling like a wet dog and an otter have had a fight in a hedge. 😂👌

It’s not even lunchtime and I feel like I’ve already done a full shift, a night shift and an episode of Challenge Anneka.

At this point I’m not asking what else can go wrong because I feel like the universe might take it as a challenge.

little appreciation post for this lovely pair ❤️

Thank you so much for trusting me with Belle and allowing me to be part of your journey together.

When Belle first came to me, you’d both become a little lost along the way. She was quite scared of life and found the world a pretty overwhelming place at times. Not through any fault of her owners at all — she’s simply an incredibly sensitive mare who had, at times, been misunderstood by others.

Sometimes these horses don’t need forcing or fixing; they just need someone to take the time to understand them and give them confidence in their own way.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with her, but the biggest credit goes to you for taking everything we’ve worked on and continuing it at home.

Just look how much you two have grown together. 🥹❤️

Thank you for trusting me with your girl. I’m so proud of how far you’ve both come, and I’m already looking forward to seeing Belle back in April and continuing the journey. 🐴❤️

Winter means brave pants ON 😬😂🐴

I’ve set myself a target this winter — get George fit and back out alongside Feike.

Missy still has her Veteran class to do, and then that’ll be her final one before she gets some very well-earned downtime until March. ❤️ She certainly deserves it!

So while Missy has a little holiday, it looks like we’re heading over to the dark side… DRESSAGE! 😂🙈

I’ve been having a couple of lessons recently with a fantastic trainer and honestly feel like I’m learning so much. I’m actually really enjoying it — never thought I’d hear myself say that! 😂

And I genuinely can’t believe the difference in the black horse. Feike is doing absolutely fantastic and I’m so pleased with how she’s coming on. 🖤

So I’ve given myself a goal — George is coming along to Feike’s lesson in October. That gives me something to work towards and no excuses!

The plan for winter is to get them both stronger, fitter and better schooled, and hopefully get ourselves out to do a bit of dressage too. 😳😂

As for George… he’s grown SO bloody big and his attitude has been SO bad that I’ve spent the last few years saying, “I’ll just give him a bit more time to mature.” 🤦‍♀️😂

Well, he’s six, rising seven. I think we can safely say he’s mature. There are officially no excuses left.

So this is it. We’re in deep. Knee deep. 😂😂

Brave pants firmly fastened. Wish me luck! 🤞🐴
