A really good final prep day before Chepstow International 🇬🇧🐴✨
BP Super Sam at only his second show — such an unfortunate pole in the Discovery, but just look at the jump he’s giving me! 😍 Plenty to be excited about and a lovely round to set us up for Chepstow.
Fiki had a ride at home this morning and I probably flattened her a little more than I intended 🙈😂 but she still jumped really well and, most importantly, not a hint of napping. Another big step in the right direction.
And then Melbourne Sum Lass for One Lass — Missy ❤️ She went and won her class today 🥇 We deliberately kept her at 1.10m, just giving her a nice confidence-building sweetener before she heads off for her international debut.
Three horses, all at very different stages, but all feeling ready for Chepstow. 🇬🇧
Now for the final few days of preparation… Chepstow, here we come! 🐴🔥
A massive thank you to everyone who’s helped us along the way — Chelsea, you’ve been an absolute diamond 💎❤️ And I’m officially blaming Sam’s pole on the Zinfandel at the meal with Selina last night 🍷😂 Although I’m also letting Selina take the win for the training on Friday too — very much appreciated and just what we needed before we go - the tack adjustments worked wonders 🇬🇧🐴

Amazing what a good downpour can do 🌧️💚
Arena freshly harrowed, fields looking green again and ready for some training at home.
Despite some stressful times, I’ll always be grateful when I look around and think about everything that’s gone into creating this place. Whatever happens, no one can ever take away the hard work, memories and everything we’ve achieved here. ❤️🐴
So much to get done over the next few days, but we’re getting there! Busy, busy, busy — just how we like it 💪🏼🐴

Another brilliant day for the team 🤩🐴💙
Fieke and Sam both DOUBLE CLEAR today, finishing 4th & 5th in a really competitive class! 🏅🏅
Super proud of them both, but a special mention for Sam on his first ever British Showjumping outing. Apparently locking onto the correct fence is optional 😂🙈 We found ourselves in a slight pickle when he decided he knew where we were going better than I did… but somehow we got ourselves out of it and kept the double clear intact! 😂
He’s still so new to all of this and has so much to learn, but what an exciting start. And Fieke just keeps showing how consistent she’s becoming. ❤️
Two horses, two double clears, 4th & 5th in a decent-sized class — I’ll absolutely take that! 🥰
And that now means THREE horses heading to Chepstow! 🥳🐴🐴🐴
Really looking forward to a few days away, lots of jumping and, most importantly, plenty of fun with family and friends. ❤️🥂
Special mention to Chelsie today too 😂❤️
After finishing poo picking, the heavens absolutely opened and we both got completely drenched. 🌧️😂
Everyone’s been praying for rain for weeks… well, it finally bloody came — just at completely the wrong time for us! 🙄🤣
The glamorous side of horses summed up perfectly by the state of the pair of us sat in the car afterwards. 😂🐴💦
And talking of Chepstow… Chelsie will be grooming at her first international, with three horses to look after, alongside my daughter Elle, who is very experienced and definitely knows the ropes! 🇬🇧🐴❤️ What a brilliant opportunity for Chelsie to gain some proper international experience alongside her.
Three horses, plenty of work and I’m sure plenty of laughs along the way — Chepstow is going to be a good one! 🥂🐴
Chepstow, here we come! 🚀

Well… this one feels pretty special. ❤️
There was a time when Missy was labelled dangerous, when my decision to keep believing in her was questioned very publicly, and when plenty of people had an opinion on what this horse would — or wouldn’t — become.
Thankfully, horses don’t read social media. 😉
We just kept doing what we do: quietly working, building trust, being consistent and letting the results speak for themselves.
After everything we’ve already achieved together, our entries have officially been accepted for Chepstow Summer International — her first international competition. 🇬🇧🐴
I don’t need to prove anybody wrong. She already has.
So unbelievably proud of this horse. ❤️
Melbourne Sum Lass For One Lass — INTERNATIONAL.
Now that has quite a nice ring to it. 😉🇬🇧✨

Sam Spam ❤️
I swore I’d never ride for anybody again… and I meant it 😂 Then I met Dawn and Amy, and somehow here we are!
This is Sam ❤️ He’s been at Avalon for just a couple of weeks after Dawn bought him completely blind — and what an eye she’s got! He is absolutely super. First show today and he came home double clear and 3rd 🥉👏 Couldn’t really ask for much more from him.
Huge well done to Chelsie and Dave too, who should have won their class… if they hadn’t gone before the bell 🤦♀️😂 Really annoying, but we’ll forgive them this once!
An awesome day out all round. Thank you Port Royal — always so understanding and accommodating when we turn up with the new ones, the young ones, the green ones… and occasionally the slightly sharp ones 😂 It makes such a difference having somewhere they can learn and gain confidence without any pressure.
Very exciting to see what’s to come with Sam ❤️🐴
Cancelled show today… but rather than wallow, we grabbed the opportunity and made the most of the day! 🐴💪
This morning Boo and Chelsie took the showjumpers out for a hack, then headed back out again with another two horses — a very productive start to the day!
I also made a huge leap forward with Belle. She accepted everything we’ve been working on straight away today and has made so much progress this week. It’s lovely when the patience and consistency suddenly start to come together. ❤️
And then there’s George… 😂 Chelsie and I have been so consistent with his work this week. Chelsie has been lunging him and then I’ve been jumping on and riding him. Today we switched things up — Chelsie did the lunging AND the riding, and he was brilliant. Another big step forward! 🙌
I’m super proud and extremely happy with how well all the horses have worked today.
A massive thank you to Boo and Chelsie for helping get everything ridden and worked, and especially for using your initiative and just getting stuck in. It makes such a difference on a busy yard. ❤️
Chelsie also fetched Dave over for a couple of days to gain some more hands-on experience. This is actually something I’m hoping to offer in the near future — opportunities for people who want to experience what it’s really like working in a busy, working equestrian yard, getting involved with the horses and learning as they go.
Sometimes a cancelled plan just gives you the chance to make progress somewhere else. 🐴❤️
Freelance Groom Wanted – Chepstow International 🐴🇬🇧
I’m looking for a freelance groom who is already working at Chepstow International and may have capacity to add two more horses to their workload while we’re there.
Only two straightforward horses – one competing in the National classes and one in the International section.
I can have haynets etc. all made up and ready to go, so I’m looking for someone to muck out, feed and groom, possibly hand-walk morning and evening, and generally keep an eye on them while we’re staying off site – checking over the doors, waters etc. and making sure they’re both happy.
It should be a really easy additional couple of horses for someone who is already there and doing the same routine with their own/another team’s horses.
Obviously paid – please message me with your availability and rate if you’re already working at Chepstow and could fit two more in. 😊
