Changing diagonals while riding in a straight line is just as important as on a circle. The 2 most asymmetrical horses I see are race horses and pleasure (hacking) horses. Race horses obviously because they tend to train repetitively on one canter lead, but pleasure horses because people don’t change diagonals.
Riding on the same diagonal will constantly load one forelimb and the opposite hind limb, not only creating muscular asymmetry but may lead to overload injuries in these limbs.
Please be aware of changing your diagonals even in a straight line. It WILL feel weird to start with but you and your horse will get use to it. Good luck 🤞

What a fantastic group at the Cotswolds & the Unicorn Centre for our latest Level 3 Award in Equine Emergency First Aid! 🐎❤️

Attendees came together to learn, share experiences and build essential equine first aid skills in a fun, supportive environment.

A huge thank you to the Unicorn Centre for being such a welcoming venue, with lovely facilities and a great atmosphere for learning.

We believe learning should be practical, inclusive and fun — because when you enjoy learning, you’re more likely to remember it!
