Greystone Rovers 2014

Unfortunately our Scottish cup run comes to an end with a 3-1 loss to Crosshouse.

The boys put everything out there and used every ounce of energy.

We went 1 up with a lovely free kick from Finley.

They pulled a goal back to make it 1-1 at halftime.

Going into the 2nd half it was end to end stuff but a mix up at the back made it 2-1 to Crosshouse.

We were pushing for an equaliser with Finley, Thomo and Baxter running the wings.

A through ball got the best of the goalie and it left the Crosshouse player with an empty net. 3-1

Finely had a great free kick at the end and Nairn pounced on the ball to score but the ref said offside 🤦🏼‍♂️ very unlucky

The final score was 3-1

We are so proud of all the boys and everyone of them gave every bit of energy they had.

All the best to Crosshouse 2014s for the rest of the season

A difficult result today as we go down 6–2, but plenty of positives to take from the game.

After a tough first half, the boys showed great character and togetherness to come out fighting in the second half. 💪🏻

We worked hard as a team, battled for every ball and showed real determination right until the final whistle. The second half was a much-improved performance, and the boys finished the game strongly. 👏🏻

It’s all about taking the positives, learning from the tough moments and continuing to work together.

Proud of the effort boys.

Keep going Greystone! 🦁🔥

Final score 6-2

Another away trip to Ayrshire for the young Greystone team for the 2nd round of the Scottish cup as we travelled to Largs to play West Kilbride Colts.

It was a very competitive game with chances for both teams but we deservedly took the lead when Baxter lobbed the keeper.

WKC equalised right on halftime to make it 1-1.

Right into the second half, a nice pass sent Finley through to make it 2-1.

Almost immediately we dropped concentration and it was 2-2.

Not to be outdone, some great work between Theo and Thomo sent Finley on a run when he rounded the keeper to make 3-2.

We thought the game was ours but a high shot from WKC made the final score 3-3 and it was penalties again🫣

The first 5 boys bravely stepped up and put their penalties away and it was sudden death penalties with Liam making the final save to send us through to the next round

Well done everyone 👏🏻🏆

We understand there are some boys in our team who weren’t selected but please remember this quote as we moved forward;

“A disappointment is not the end of the journey; it’s an opportunity to work harder, grow stronger, and come back better than before.”

As coaches we are proud of all our team 🤩⚽️
